Just moved to FL, need a mill and lathe for gunsmithing

 I sold better looking mills than that in the $2400-$3100 range dependent on if they were step heads or VSD heads . If they wanted a vise , I would give them a Kurt for $200 . If they wanted any other tooling , we negotiated a price for what the wanted . These were also very tight mills that I knew the background of . We don't make parts at our company , we make filters . The only reason we have machines is for the machinists in the maintenance dept , which I am the only one . Somehow this was deleted . All these mills had power feed , DROs , one shot lube pumps etc .
Well shoot me an e-mail if you can, if you have anything for sale. tonyben@tonybenm14.com

Tony , I put anything I'm selling on this site as well as Craigslist and FBMP . I'm not into Emails and don't answer them . I post my phone number in any and all ads . If people don't call , don't look at the machine , ask a million questions , I don't even consider them as an interested party . Learn the machines , there are plenty of threads on here about choosing equipment that suits your needs . At that point , you need to make a yes or no decision . No one can make that decision for you !

I did some research and reached out to Bamban here on the forum as well as some other machinist friends. I ended up finding a Precision Matthews 1236T lathe 3 hour away.

I brought her home last night. The guy said he was really surprised that a)I got it all done mostly by myself, and b) that it all fit in my shortbed F150 and still got the tonneau cover closed! I was soaked with sweat when it was all done, but we got it in there!

I bought an engine hoist before I left yesterday and left it at the house. I just have to put it together tomorrow morning and unload it from the pickup bed. We drove through rain most of the way here and nothing got wet. I'll post more as I get it installed. I have a friend coming over tomorrow to help me get it out of the truck bed.

It came with two 3-jaw chucks, a 4-jaw chuck, a collet chuck setup, a full set of 5C collets, BXA-style tool post, DRO, phase converter (It's a 3-phase machine), BXA tool holders and a soft jaw set for one of the 3-jaw chucks.

I bought it all for $6,600. The machine is 1 year old and looks like it was mostly used for aluminum work. It's in great shape!

Next step- the hunt for a mill.

Congratulations! It looks pristine!

He cut the chip tray so it could be slid out for cleaning. You can see it in the picture where everything is stuffed in my truck bed. It's on top of the lathe. You can see the cutout he made.

I may order a new chip tray. He had lots of chips he didn't know were behind his lathe until I slid it out away from the wall.

2 big cookie sheets from Wal-mart under the lathe on top of the chip tray makes a good removable chip tray. Cut like he had it would make a mess with cutting oil.

Make sure you seal the machine bases to the stands or oil, and coolant will find it's way into the cabinets.
