What Did You Buy Today?

Had a little run up to Redditch in the Midlands today to pick up another couple of auction lots from a workshop that's closed.

Vanco Flexiband vertical linisher. Belt was hors de combat so I removed it, which is why I'm holding the top pulley. The start cap needs the fixture replacing obviously. Also I think I the motor belt might need replacing:

I've failed to get a few cabinets that have come up but finally I succeed

Okay it has a few dints but eh, it's pretty solid.

Also, Rich the auction company chap was happy with me looting the offcuts that wouldn't be worth them taking to the scrappie (got those, no charge obvs):

Plenty of mystery steel but the bunch of short round bar is 080A15. Not bad machinability apparently (not free machining but not bad). God alone knows what the rest is. Spark test will have to do.

Anyway the cabinet and linisher cost me £80.

Didn't actually buy as they were getting rid of it a few weeks back, finally unloaded it.

2 - 52"x23"x3/8" plate steel with some strange holes
1 - 48"x37"x20 ga galvanized

Thought I might put one of the plates under my lathe, it's about 2" shorter than the base. There would still be the chip pan between, any thoughts on if I'd be messing with anything?

Square holes = carriage bolts . Nice and easy to install . :encourage:
Do you think it would be any advantage putting one of these under my chip tray? I always wanted a nice thick steel bench to set the lathe on but the cost kept me from doing it. These pieces are about 2" shorter than my lathe mounting feet.

Current setup.

Technically not today, but a couple of weeks ago:

My new Milling machine!

A Warco Super Major. I’m yet to get it all set up and degrease it, but I’m a happy man.

Whilst still a small mill, this is far larger than I thought I’d be able to get in to my workshop, and twice the weight of any mill I’ve had before.

R8 which is very nice! Power Z and X, power quill.

I need to get some time to get it all set up properly and start making chips!
