What Did You Buy Today?

Yes, the top covers are almost always cut there, might even call it a design flaw. Don't think it will bother me though , or the side cover missing.

Table appears to be aluminum plate maybe glued down. Haven't decided if I'm going to try removing it or not, don't ever remember using a miter gauge on my old one but do remember having to clean the slot plenty.

I have a 2x48 Rockwell belt grinder that may have to go but I hate to part with it. Need a bigger shop since I definitely have to sell the Hardinge BB4 for space to put this sander.

I use my slot regularly. I made a wooden sliding table for woodworking, one side is 90, the other is 45. I have found it immensely useful for metal as well.

Yeah, this one came out of a wood shop and the guy said it was like that when he got it. It was replaced by a similar machine but with a disk sander on the side which is why they were selling it.

Might put a screwdriver into the slot and apply a little heat to see if it'll come loose. Suppose I could always put it onto my mill and just cut the aluminum through where the slot is.

It is nice to have one with the adjustable table though, my old one came out of our village DPW shop and someone had dropped it. Was repaired with a piece of angle iron which worked but wasn't adjustable.

I've had a little older model (circa 1960) for well over 20 years. I purchased it from the company I worked for when they were cleaning out some rented storage buildings. When I originally looked at it the top cover was missing. By the time the purchase was completed, and I came to pick it up the entire top roller assembly was gone.

They lowered the price to $25.00. I found a roller assembly on eBay for $125.00 but could never find a cover in decent shape. I finally cut a piece of stainless tube in half and used it for a cover. It turned out to be a good thing because the first several belts I got wouldn't track worth a darn. The cover would have been sliced up in the first month I had it.
