When I was a kid the remedy for cough was whiskey and sugar. I coughed a lot.

Oh...shiny! 24mm x 1.5mm machine leveling bolts. The old black oxide bolts and nuts on the bed mill were fairly rusty so ordered some nickel plated replacements from Misumia USA in IL.

Get a helper when you level the lathe. Doing it alone is masochistic. Let the helper turn the bolts. You read the level.

I've been through the process many times. The bubble takes time to settle, at least on the very sensitive levels. It takes time, bring lunch.

Just out of curiosity, what do you use those for? Polishing aluminum? Mike

Painting model airplanes. Paint first sanded, then clear coated with automotive clear (about 3 layers). Each layer of clear fills in the rough surfaces of the previous layer, The sanding between layers smooths out the clear until finally it glass smooth and shiny.

It's about $60 more than a Drill Doctor 750 which is about the only other game in town for this type of machine from what I can see.
Took me a few bits to more or less get the hang of it. I did pull out my "Henry Ford trade school" shop theory book and reread the chapter on drill bits just to help think things through.
Have some drilling to do next week and will report back on how it goes. This will be the second time around for 5/16" holes through drilled in some bolts. Be interesting to see how a freshly sharpened bit compares to the new DeWalt bit I used last time.

Rock & Rye: Clear Rock Candy (large sugar crystals grown on a string) covered with Rye whiskey to get a saturated syrup. This was before 20 proof Nyquil came out.

I once had the WORST cough ever. Non-stop hacking for a week, exhausted I went to the doctor suspecting a bacterial infection. Sure enough he loaded me up with anti-biotics. Then said he was prescribing me cough medicine. I said, look here I have already wasted money on these useless over the counter cough medicines and proceeded to have a meltdown over the mere suggestion, being in a particularly foul mood already.

He said this isn't like the over the counter stuff. Got home, saw that it had codeine. Still fuming that I had spent even more money on cough medicine I took it as prescribed...wait for it...IT TURNED THE COUGH COMPLETELY OFF! I could not believe that, not after coughing like that for days on end.

My wife helped me, when she asked and I explained how thick 0.0002" was she quit and was mad about it.... go figure...
