Time is running out (California folk)

In all seriousness now, I talked to a guy originally from western pennsy who said there were accumulations of snow even into June. He remembers jumping in 4' high drifts. In places where it was prone to accumulate and where the shun didn't shine. He was annoyed by the way city people talked.

yes, mountains and open farmland (although turning to homes :() 3 miles south of 78,
Ever visited this place Jeff ? Planning a day trip up to this place now that I'm retired . Many of my ex-coworkers have been and say it's pretty cool ! :encourage:

I used to go up to Killington all the time, and ski, and hike. Since I skiied the trees, I would go up in spring and trim back some of the branches that would be harmful with a full pack of snow. And sometimes into June and July there was snow still around some areas. It would depend on the weather. I think those days are gone.. that was 30 - 35 years ago. With the warming that we have had, it would be more rare. But a few years ago they had a lot of snow, so maybe, I just don't do it anymore. Both ACLs are gone, flat feet, both shoulders rebuilt, I'm a mess. sports can keep you healthy, but it can also destroy your body... I'm the type that gets hurt and keeps going, knowing that once the adrenaline wears off I'll be hurting.

Yep a few times. When it first opened, and then twice since. When my grand daughter gets older I'll take her. I don't know how well they keep it up. It was so impressive at first. Things age.. It has to be 25 , 26 years old now.

Are the trains all HO?
No, there are O gauge , N gauge. Out back they added a full size train for rides.. I can't remember if they had G scale as well.

I don't know how much it is these days, but it was a few hours to walk through, so it was worth the price. If you are into models, or trains it's a great place to visit.

You are misinformed, Lithium batteries are totally recyclable.

Yes there are some countries with poor lithium mining practices, human rights abuses etc. as are many of the products we consume, made under such conditions... This can and should be changed.
They said the same about wind mill blade and those are turning into a hazard now.

The earth is alleged to have had ice ages. As well as very warm periods. What happens when humanity is faced with a naturally occurring extreme temperature period? In an ice age do we act with reckless abandon, cut all the trees down, so the earth warms up? In a hot age do we pollute the atmosphere with particulates that block out the sun's rays? This whole notion of man made global (insert) seems a bit hokey. The weather is going to change, or will have the tendency to do so. Can we survive? Can we adapt? A lot of the stuff going on is just virtue signallng.

Some people seem to gain satisfaction by exertimg moral superiority over others. I think a lot of the push these days is about that. Small children thundering from their precipices. "We will never forgive you!". O shut up and eat your Captain Crunch.
I'm sorry, but that dialogue is the definition of uninformed. There has been no greater rate of warming of the Earth than it has been in the last 100 years, which, of course, coincides with the Industrial Revolution. Every single scientist who has legitimacy in their field will concur with this. It is NOT made up horse hocky, as you suggest. It is real.

Even if one does not believe in the science and the evidence, would you rather make a change to better our only Earth, only to find out it was not needed, or would you rather do nothing and continue the status quo only to find out the science was right and we have reached an unrecoverable spiral. I know I would rather do good even though it was not necessary.

Two more points...

Read Bill Brysons book "A Short History of Nearly Everything"

Also, the excuse that the other people are not cleaning up the world so we shouldn't either is akin to "I'm not going to clean up my year because my neighbor's is a mess."

Can't argue with that however, you can't high dive into the shallow end of the pool without consequences. Forcing out technology that isn't up to the task is a joke!
