This uneven finish is common on my Logan 820. Bearings have always seemed to check out OK. Ideas? Saddle/bed? EDIT. About .0005 difference in the OD.

I see I'm late to the party, and the problem is solved, BUT, I want to toss something at you-
In the original picture, the "uneven finish" appears to have an unplausibly fast thread pitch. If you see that, it's chatter, and the chatter marks are playing with your eyeballs. You found the reason for this case, although there's many options on how to get it, but if the "thread pitch" doesn't match the power feed rate, even if it's "silent", it's chatter.
