as I've done a lot of wire wheel work over the years, I am a believer in using high end, and in my case USA made wire wheels. I currently use Weiler brand. in the past I've had a lot of wire come loose and stick in my pants and shirt and even occasionally in my skin. luckily not in my face. never happened in the 3 years or so of running the Weiler wheels. I also wear a full-face shield. I run a soft wire wheel on the right and a stiff one on the left.

Bench grinder/buffer motor bearing questions

went the japanese fully sealed bearing route. back together and nice and smooth and quiet. I have an old pair of shaft extensions with left and right threaded ends but they are for a 3/4" shaft and this grinder has a 1" shaft. I think I'll make some 1" to 3/4" adaptors on the lathe and that will extend the shaft length to where I want it.
