What Did You Buy Today?

I love those Myford lathes. It would be a cool lathe to have.

Cutting oil is my blood.

I pick it up tonight. Only have room for one lathe.
Either the Myford or the Clausing but not both.
The Clausing is 12” x 36” vs 7” x 36”
Change gears on the Clausing vs QCGB on the Myford

That all comes down to how large of things you turn.

I would be hard pressed to give up that 5"s of swing, but like said above it depends on the work you do. Me thinks it's time for a shop addition. Cheers, Mike

Well took my new tools out to storage. One of the tool boxes I have will be for just lathe work and precision measuring. Got to looking at the old set of index tool holders I have. They are the type that the insert is held in place by the screw that passes through the insert. I have had these screws bound up, break off and inserts come loose. So decided since I am upgrading might as well not stop now.

I have been looking at these for a while on Amazon. To be honest , they look just as good as the Shars and some other prominent brands. The inserts are probably not the best. I'll buy some good quality inserts and just use the ones I got as roughing and such.

So I bought this set of tool holder. Not bad for $58 including Sales Tax.
