What Did You Buy Today?

I also ordered 3 AXA tool holders so I can set up some tooling. The lathe came with one standard tool holder (also a knurling holder, a cut off holder and a boring bar holder). I got a couple boxes of various HSS bits, so I need to practice grinding some bits.
If I'm the future the AXA post handle starts to swing far enough when opening is blocks the bed side of the post. Drilling a new hole is what most end up doing. Very recently I read about another solution. Trying to shim under the handle doesn't work, not does shimming under the left hand thread bolt that moves the rough cut Acme threads to tighten the dove tails on the tool holder. "But" apparently shimming both will help shorten the swing. I'm planning to get it tested as soon as I recover a little more from an injury.

I thought it looked cool for $2 USD at the Habitat Resale store. The electrical odds & ends are to finish wiring up my work bench with 12AWG flexible metal conduit. Receptacles on top, underneath for shop vac & compressor, receptacles on the legs, and a switched locking receptacle at almost floor level for an extension cord that won't get kicked loose.

I just bought a used Logan lathe that has a lot of stuff with it, but of course, not everything.
Oh - congrats on the lathe. What model did you get? There is a Logon sub-forum here, a groups.io forum, & a FB group moderated by Scott Logan, grand son of the founder. His site
http://lathe.com/ has a lot of NOS parts and many more not listed. Should you decide not to join the groups.io site, it's worth looking over the posted documents and another place to do a search. If you are a contributor here, access the Downloads & filter by "Logan"

+1 to all the above.

When I had my 14" Logan I called about a part that wasn't on the website and Scott basically said what's listed is really just the more common stuff, but a lot of other things are available as well...the part I need was available, and pretty reasonably priced for what it was.

It's a Powr-Kraft 15TLC-2136. A 10" swing lathe. I have posted on the sub forum here and joined the groups.io forum as well. I didn't know about the FB group, so I will look at that. I am just getting my feet wet with the machine, so it's a lot of info to absorb.

One bite at time. Took me years to learn what little I know, and I'm still learning.

Dropped some cash on an Eccentric Engineering R/H Diamond (Tangential) cutting tool + Grinding Jig.
Many opinions on these, but I have zero regrets. I know you are absolutely not, but for a new user, IMHO, these are much better then spending $ on carbide. I've had mine for ~ 6?? years and the only trouble has been when I run the lathe too fast. Still on my first tool. What I wish is that the US manufacturer tool steel could be found retail rather than re-importing it back from Australia. I'd love to grind some for single point cutting.

I'm also partial to pricey AR Warner HHS insert tooling for old iron. Learning to grind off hand single point tooling will happen when it's really needed. Until then, IMHO, have fun with the basics.

Oh have no fear, I know how to grind HSS into many forms for cutting, I just prefer not to. That said, I will "grind up" (as I refer to it) where and when I find it better than using carbide or where it is required for a specific material.

In actual fact I have some 300mm long HSS stock for cut-off blades that I need to cut into three, but I do not want to use a grinder to cut it. meh, I'll get it sorted eventually.

@Shiseiji I just noticed your comment about re-importing US tool steel. I am lucky that I can source HSS blanks stock within the UK, as well as the odd amount of HSS 5% Cobalt. Sorted out 5 pieces of 6x6x75mm HSS for the Tangential tools at just about £3GBP each. Not expensive.

On the other hand, at £3.50GBP-ish per piece for 4x4x63mm HSS for a smaller Tangential tool is expensive. Still, 12 pieces should last a year or few.
