Need a gantry crane for a one time use.

Based on the picture, my idea of a big steel post filled with concrete and painted yellow with reflective white stripes still seems like a good idea. Might be next year's project, but it would stop the problem cold. 4-6ft high, at least 6-8" in diameter. Set in the ground about 6 feet deep in concrete.

The little rocks are frozen into the ground. Once things thaw out I will rearrange so that they hit the big rock first and the smaller ones will help to support the big one not moving so easy. This was the best I could do with the conditions available.
If someone hits these it will while turning from the main road to the alley. They would / should not be going real fast.

A post was thought of, but driving down the alleys every post that others have is bent or leaning. I am not the only one with these issues.

I'm sure they are frozen at this point.

In my opinion, the rocks are not very tall and undoubtedly are easy to misjudge. A taller post or bollard will better protect your house. I understand that you're trying not to spend a lot, but I'd think protecting your home would be a priority?

I should also mention that the 4 inch gas main runs thru between the sidewalk and the house. Even if diggers hotline marks it, I aint digging that close to it. My water and sewer lines also go out to the street in the area between the steps and end of the house. Even if I can dig without hitting anything, if someone should hit the bollard it could defect enough to break one of the 3 pipes in that immediate area. Just to much risk for my taste.

Are the other posts filled with concrete? That ought to reinforce them, prevent bending. Set the posts deep. Beyond this, I'm not sure what to do, install flame throwers?

Gee, I don't have anything to help with that. Now we are talking Jersey barriers. That's all I got.

Back to bright lights, and photos of the offending vehicles? Direct CCTV to the police station?

A really big rock is close to a Jersey barrier but looks nicer.
If the big rock in the back holds up, I may get another real big one for the front.

I am researching security cams for both the front and rear of the house so I can watch goofballs run into rocks. But this is still another thread.

Any post can be damaged and would require yards of concrete foundation to be serious. Too much trouble/expense to repair.

I don't imagine a big rock being significantly damaged. Moved a little and marked a little maybe, but easy enough to put back.
