Need a gantry crane for a one time use.

We have a winner. Someone is/was No 1.
That did not take long. When I got home from work today there is a small piece of black plastic on the ground next to the rock on the alley side.
The rock did NOT move, there are no visible marks on the rock. There is 40 mph wind and snowing hard and very cold so I did not take time to investigate more.

I mean, really? Already?

I wonder if you could make a few bucks by setting up video surveillance and posting the dummies on Youtube.
I've seen a channel that showed tall trucks inadvertently trying to pass under a too low RR bridge (I think).
It seems like you'd have enough content for a 10 minute video within a month.

Time for a camera. Hopefully you can get a facial close up that shows their expression. Might become entertaining.

Extropic Apparently were typing at the same time.

Thinking more about the camera/video idea. You could erect a sturdy pole behind the rock. Maybe 10-12 feet tall. Mount a couple of the Solar recharged/battery operated motion activated lights high on the pole (out off easy reach). Use the lights/solar panels to camouflage the presence of a camera. Point the camera down to get a good view of the contact and top of the car. A face shot, to see driver reaction, would be fun too, but that's harder to hide and might need multiple cameras to cover different directions of travel.

EDIT: The pole could serve to back-up the rock and reduce potential for tipping it over.

Think you need to capture the face and license plate to stop this nonsense. Send it to the police. File a complaint against them or the bowling alley. If the bowling alley serves alcohol, then complain to the liquor commission. Really, this is no good and shouldn't be tolerated.

Not worried about the rock. There's obviously impaired drivers on the road.
As there always are.

Pretty sure the cops know where this bowling alley is and they could just wait and see who hits the rock if they wanted.

If it was me I wouldn’t get involved unless they got out of the car and were stumbling around my yard.

I can see we have differing opinions, so I'm not going to discuss it much further.

Impaired drivers on my property, sorry, I wouldn't tolerate that. I don't tolerate impaired drivers on the road either. Nor should we tolerate institutions that irresponsibly serve alcohol. Drunk drivers aren't harmless.

No disrespect, but I have to disengage from this discussion. I don't want to anger anyone, including myself. Just happen to have strong feelings about this.

I respect and understand your feelings. I lost two friends back in high school to
a drunk driver.

This thread doesn’t need to turn into a discussion about a topic that can bring so much devastation to a family or community.
