Looking for porous leaf collection Bags.

The tractor mower is equipped with mulching blades and a mulching blower at the exit of the deck. With a single pass the leaves are chopped up to about the size of a penny. Full bags of dry leaves weigh between 35 and 40 lbs. When the leaves are wet the bags weigh closer to 50 lbs. per bag. Each trailer load is between 60 and 70 bags depending on how wet they are. I use the same deck height setting to mow and pick up leaves. At this time of year, the grass grows slowly so there's very little grass in the mix.

At 35 lbs. per bag and 65 bags per load each load weighs a minimum of 2,200 lbs. At 50 lbs. per bag a load weighs over 3,200 lbs. 15 loads weigh between 32,000 lbs. and 48,000 lbs. Not only do I have to load the trailer at the house, I also have to unload it at the recycle center. That means handling between 32,000 lbs. and 48,000 lbs. at least twice to get the job done.

At 76 years old and with a bad back I'm trying to come up with an easier way. We've already contacted several lawn services in the area and to me their prices are outrageous. They want between $1,200.00 and $1,500 dollars to do just the final cleanup. I can't imagine what it would cost to do the whole job. Just to complicate things the city doesn't allow contractors or commercial businesses to use the recycle center. They have to take the material they collect to the county landfill. That's about 15 miles away, and they charge $30.00 a ton disposal fee. That would add another $700.00 to the cost.

After 8yrs of using my home brew collection system (track vac copy) behind our ancient Kubota G4200 we upgraded to a BX25 and this unit.

It was 3K at the time but worth every penny.

Ride around, fill it up, hit the lever and the leaves fall out the back without ever getting off the tractor.

I’ll probably be putting it on in a week or so.

Leaf collection in our area is now in full swing. Yesterday I filled another trailer load (pics 1 & 2) to take to the recycle center. The load is what i got off the grass in the back yard. Nothing from the gardens or front yard. I estimate it'll take another 2 loads to clean up what's already fallen. Then wait another few days for the next batch to fall. I would also estimate that 10% or less of the leaves are now on the ground.

This trailer load will be unloaded manually with a shovel, rake, and broom. The longer-term plan is to replace the current trailer with a dump trailer like this.

There are several to choose from, but none give the construction details online. You actually have to physically inspect them for the type of materials and quality of build.

For the short term I purchased one of these. Hopefully it will make the unloading of the trailer an easier job.

Long term I'm also looking for a JD high lift material collection system like this. Unfortunately, they're no longer being built. I'm hoping to find a new or nearly new one at a JD dealership. If everything comes together, I'll be able to pick up the leaves, back up to the trailer, empty the collection system without leaving the tractor seat, and continue on until the trailer is full.

This one is on a 755, but they fit equally well on a 445. After he solves all the other problems you can see how the container lifts and dumps at about 8:50 in the video. This height and configuration should make it relatively easy to load the trailer.
