Well, the rain hasn't stopped yet. We no more than got the call that the Expedition was ready to be picked up than we started hearing noises from the front end of the Jeep. I haven't had time to crawl under it yet, but it sounds like either a broken shock or bad link on the front stabilizer bar.
Yesterday my wife went to get something out of the freezer and found it wasn't working properly. The fridge had a temperature of 42* and the freezer was at 28*. We had to empty it out, shut it off and wait until next Friday for a service tech to diagnose and fix the problems.
Since we didn't have a fridge at home we decided to go to the cottage for the weekend. We had to finalize an order with a local glass company for 3 new windows and 2 new storm doors. One of the dual pane windows started leaking and fogging due to hail damage, another started doing the same thing just due to old age, and the third was damaged by a bird who decided to peck a hole in the outer glass. Both doors are being replaced due to old age and wear. When we got there, we found we had 2 large oak trees come down in a storm. Luckily, they didn't damage the building, but they did take out a few smaller pine trees on the way down.
The adventures weren't over yet. Last night my wife went to plug in her computer and half the circuit went dead. It seems somewhere along the way someone had used one of the outlet boxes in the living room as a junction box for both an outlet and lighting circuit. One of the wires backed out of a wire nut eliminating power to the family room and dining area outlets, and the lights in the dining room. That's when we found the lights and the outlets on all 3 bedrooms were on the same circuit.
I'll call a trusted electrical contractor in the morning to see what can be done to rectify the situation. It might be time to upgrade from a 100-amp service to a 200-amp service so we can have a separate circuit for each of the room's lights and outlets.
We're hoping this will be the last of the unplanned adventures. So far this summer and fall have consisted of mainly fixing stuff that broke and doing yard work. It's getting old to say the least. I've hardly touched any of the machines in the shop except to make repair parts for things that have broken.
