Looking for a "break in" oil

Older motor cycle motors did not have modern day spin on filters, and although newer motors run synthetics, I was always told that they should not be used for break in with older motors. I would recommend just a straight viscosity non-detergent oil for break in, as others mentioned detergent oils are used with engines that use an oil filter.

I'd use Castrol GTX Classic. Lots of ZDDP, which is good for break-in. During break in, don't baby the engine. Ride it firmly, but don't trash it until you have at least 500 miles on it.

We need a video of this beast running.

Back when I was in high school ‘82 one of my buddies let me ride his 850 commando. I was used to fast bikes as I rode a Kawasaki 500 triple.

Well, I took off down the street. First gear, second gear, looked down as I was shifting into third and was going like 70 mph. Torque monster doesn’t even begin to describe it.

Didn’t experience anything with that much torque until I rode the Zero DSRX we build. A great bike for sure but nothing like the visceral experience of that Commando.

Kawalski 500 = widow maker.
It's really not a beast. Fired it up about a week ago. Started 2nd kick, confirmed oil flow and got it warm. Still dealing with a mile long chicken sheet punch list...........jetting, electrical, adjust this and that. Then on to my final project. Video coming. Thanks for the oil advice.

What are you painting, and what color? For basic gloss black, Nason has some amazing stuff. I can look up the specs if interested.

To be used on engine cases. The Norton cylinders were painted with something like this.
This company? https://www.axalta.com/corporate/en_US/products-and-customers/liquid-coatings/nason.html
And I probably only need a quart of it.
Thanks!
Yes, on the Nason. That's not engine paint, though. I used it to paint my motorcycle frame and related bits.

For engine painting, I'd use Cerakote. I'm not certain which version is best. They have lots of high temp paints, both catalyzed and air dry.
