Another Internal Combustion Engine

I can wait till you get the gas tank installed and it will likely answer this question but does the height of the tank have to be a certain distance to allow the fuel to be sucked in without flooding it or siphoning out? Unless there is a check valve somewhere I'd assume it can only pull the gas so far.

Yes it does, as the top of the fuel level in the tank cannot be higher than the spray bar in the carburetor of it will siphon out. There is a limit as to how far below the carburetor the tank can be before a check valve is needed. This distance can be different depending on the engine.

Thanks for asking.

As usual, beautiful work. Your skills are admired.
Thanks Tom

I meant to post this yesterday.
I am getting old.

Cut out two tank stands and polished them up.

A couple weeks back I mentioned that I wasn't completely happy with the exhaust valve. I spent a couple of hours at that time working on the exhaust valve and seat and I thought I had it sealing.
Well it wasn't and after another couple of hours messing with it I decided I should just pitch it and start over.
So a slight delay while I make a new valve and guide.

Thanks for looking

Now for today some pictures.

And the video

I am not entirely happy with the engine as it is and will continue to work on some problems.
Future plans
Get rid of the bevel gears. They are too noisy. I have some helical gears on order.
Maybe lower the compression to calm the jumping and allow for a longer miss period.

Thanks for looking

@rdean , I think this is one of the nicest looking engines I have seen you build. I especially like the governor action.
