You Tube Rant

My problem with utube is there amazing desire to limit discussions. I responded to a post about a guy using 509 primers for his muzzleloader. I gave a simple, "are you sure it is a 509". While it stayed up long enough for him to answer thanking me and saying it was a 209. I was notified of the response, When I checked his response, my original response had been deleted??? Not the first or second time something like that has happened.

I make low budget no esiting videos
Some have been removed
Mostly because of “accidental” copy right
Music in the back ground , certain products in the back ground , also of course the certain stuff they ban which seems to differ day to day , especially subjects on firearms.

I use it a lot for work, auto motive repair
Its not always perfect but almost always leans you in thevright direction . .

Very much this. They also removed Joe Pie's AR series, building a 1911 from Brandon the Machinist, and quite a few other firearms related videos. And they have a monopoly, so you won't find those videos anywhere else, either... I'll never send them a dime, and I don't watch the ads.

Monopoly? I don’t watch Patreon much, but I do know some gun gurus have moved over there because of YT’s firearm rules and some do both channels. I won’t touch Tiktok for political reasons which we can’t discuss here, but I there’s also that. And it's all optional viewing.

There's also Full30, Odysee, and a few others, but you're not going to find much in those places because YT has a monopoly - not so much on the ability to put videos online, but a monopoly on viewers. Very few content creators are going to spend much effort posting to a few hundred viewers. A few have started posting to multiple platforms, so at least when YT takes down their videos for some imagined offense the video is somewhere else. But for most it's not worth the time - because YT has a monopoly* on viewership.

*Just to be clear, I don't mean they control each and every viewer or video, but they have the market cornered to such an extent that they have no real competition.

I find that i’m tired of advertising in any form, I wish to opt out from advertising altogether.
Every where I go, there’s some form of it being visually jammed down my throat or fornicating my ears.
Advertisers need to understand that we are at a saturation point, that their repetitive, incessant demand for attention works against their best interests. If I hear/see an ad more than a few times, I make it a point NOT to purchase the product or service and may go as far as buying a competing product that doesn’t offend me through incessant marketing

Not to beat a dead horse but Monopoly is the reason I refuse to enter Walmart. I've chosen the alternative Monopoly "Amazon" but at least they have created jobs for small business owners instead of putting them out of business.

You nailed it. And they are invading our privacy. I bought a package of Beef wieners last week at the local grocery store. Next thing I know an ad for Hebrew National Franks was on my screen. Not the first time I have seen this happen. When It started happening a few years ago I thought I was just being paranoid but it is real. I am a sucker for little kids and definitely have a soft heart when it comes to them but ST. Judes has mmade it so commercial that I ride the fence on giving to them. those commercials are professional produced to tug at the heart strings of the kind hearted. My thoughts are always "Why don't they spend that repeated advertising money to help the kids" Same with the ones that keep sending me the Indian Dream catchers in the mail trying to get me to donate to the Indian schools. Advertising ain't free just ask politicians how much money is consumed on ads. Some will look down on me with shame for saying what I have just said but my monthly charity of choice is and has been for the last 2 years Hospice. 2 years ago I spent the last months of my best friends life daily taking him for his chemo and radiation treatments. My last trip with him was to take his ashes to his favorite fishing spot and honor or friendship. My donation to Hospice every month is to honor our friendship and to honor Hospice and those needing Hospice. And you know what ? Hospice never pressured me with ads. and still doesn't. If you pressure me I will react. If you don't pressure me I will go out of my way to be of help.

I'm the same, but I've got to believe that advertisers are not flying blind. I **assume** they've done the research to indicate that their advertising is effective. Maybe not to all, but to many / most. It's one of the biggest problems I have with charities. Nothing p***** me off more than donating to a charity and then seeing that money spent asking me for more money... Until enough of us exercise actively negative responses to advertising, it won't subside.

I think that there should be a new rule, for every dollar deep pocket advertisers spend on advertising, equal funds should be either donated to worthy causes, (real, non indoctrinated) education, or the real working employees of deep pocket companies doing the advertising
