You Tube Rant

Why is it a bad ide to give a doctors office that is not giving you proper service to your medical needs a bad rating? what are you losing? More bad service? My primary care DR. sends me an email after every visit to rate them. I never do but should. They are pitiful.
Because they all belong to the same club. You would be surprised at the loyalty they have to one another. You might also be surprised at the corruption some of them share as well. I used to date a Scrub Nurse. You would be surprised what really goes on inside the Operating room.

I'll try to give a little insight to your situation. In no way am I saying it's okay, but I just wanted to respond.
1. The insurance companies have "preferred" pharmacies, that they have worked out some sort of deal that steers their subscribers that way. All of them do it to a certain extent. Most are pushing for the mail-order pharmacies.
2. The waiting list to see the new pcp is an unfortunate byproduct of less and less interest in the medical profession as a whole (My own observation). But no doctor is going to prescribe medication to a patient they have never seen.
3. It isn't "illegal" for the cardiologist to see you without a primary care referral. Your individual plan may require referrals. I know it can be frustrating, but this is caused by rampant overuse of benefits over the years by doctors and patients. it's the insurance plan's way of making sure you "need" the cardiologist, to keep total patient costs down. If you're barely seeing the cardiologist, consider seeing if your pcp is willing to prescribe and monitor it.
4. As far as the excessive 112,000 bill, I will assume that was the actual bill and not an explanation of benefits. That's why the No Surprises Act was enacted in 2022. It's meant to prevent those crazy bills where you are seen at an in-network facility but treated by an out-of-network doctor. You have to be given prior warning by the hospital that you are going to be treated by a provider that may be out of network with your insurance. Now most of them probably put it in the small print when you fill out your forms, so you or your loved ones have to be diligent.
5. For your Eliquis co-pay, I would have to know more about your specific prescription plan, but generally speaking... If your copay is that high, your insurance may cover the generic Apixban at a cheaper cost. Or, they should have a cheaper covered alternative. Like Pradaxa, Xarelto, or Warfarin. You also mentioned using CVS, are you using a local brick and mortar CVS? A lot of plans now want you to send it to CVS Caremark mail-order. A lot of times there is no copay, or a much cheaper one. You may also have a deductible for prescriptions built into the plan as a way of keeping the monthly costs down. It may be to your benefit to look at a slightly higher plan that would end up being cheaper in the long run when you factor in prescription costs.

Just some thoughts.
Thanks for the tip! After months of waiting, my surgery was finally approved for the repair of a "Torn Meniscus" in my right knee. They initially denied the surgery. I will limp over to the file cabinet where I keep my medical records and check to see if I have been part of the "rampant overuse of benefits over the years by doctors and patients"

I can't get my insulin or supplies unless I have seen the doc in the last 90 days. Medicare regulation. Doc says I'm stable so don't need to see him that often and each visit costs $.
My every 3 month checkup to see if the cancer has returned, is tomorrow. That may be a valid frequency??

Do you regularly see the primary care doctor? I'm assuming you're talking about supplies for a catheter, but they require signed orders to continue shipping the supplies.
Yes , and thank God no ! Had bladder and prostate cancer years back so these are Urostomy bags/pouches . Why send me back to a surgeon that performed this 3+ years ago ? What are they thinking , that this operation will heal itself and I no longer need the supplies ?

I actually watched took the time to watch 16 minutes of ads to watch 16 minutes of video . I usually just click as soon as the ad will let me skip but since the ads have got so bad I actually decided to just see how bad they really are with data. It is very annoying to me to keep getting interrupted while trying to learn something. that I am enjoying. My concern is that You Tube is about to put itself out of business with all the adds. I have seen some of the better creators' voice that they have lost a lot of viewers compared to what they used to get. but of course, greedy Google would just sell ads into a vacuum. There is just no respect for the consumer anymore. People are tired of being stepped on. I will probably re-new my homeowner's insurance today. I used to pay it by the year instead of every 6 months. But the premiums have got so high I went to every 6 months in protest. I am nearing the point of just dropping it and moving into a Sea container if It gets destroyed. With the premium at near $4000 a year I could be living in a pretty nice Sea Can in 2 years' worth of premiums I currently live in a 4-bedroom house by myself. already paid more in premimums in the last 38 years than I originally paid for the house and 8.25 acres of land. January first of every year I am already in debt to insurance and taxes $10,000. Yep first 10 k every year goes to property taxes and insurance. Don't even ask me about healthcare. My rant has gone from You tube to Insurance etc. But somebody has to pay for the unreasonable advertising. It is just passed on to the consumer as cost of products and services.
Well its adds ir pay for add free and keep paying more and more.

If it is not illegal and I was not using insurance then I wonder why my Cardiologist told me that it was illegal for him to treat me without a PCP referral? The $112,000 was my part because I did not have insurance at the time. And it did not include all the parasitic charges like the PCP the Radiologist the Urologist the lab charges. The Pulmonary doctor or each time they checked my oxygen level. Yes I know all about Generics and my cardiologist had a $hit fit when he found out I was taking a generic of Plavix. Thus demanding I take Eliquis. My pulmonologist laughed out loud at me when I asked for a generic inhaler he had me on.The one he had me on was $500 dollars a month for just one and he had me on 2 of them. I simply quit going to him and quit using the inhalers. The solution to my breathing was Lasics yo help me clear the water out of my blood that was filling my lungs up. BTY the water in my lungs is a side effect of some of the other meds including Eliquis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At that time I had Obamacare and my deductible was $5000. He said I would meet the $5000 deductible quickly by seeing him. The following year the Obamacare would not cover anything in my network. Sure the doctors and hospitals could take it but the insurance companies would not pay them. So they sent out notices that they would no longer accept Obamacare. I am not speaking without personal experience. I have been dealing with health care for 10 straight years.

The first 3 years I paid all of my expenses out of my pocket. And told Obamacare to shove it.BTW I did not qualify for the free Obamacare. I really get ****** off about that. I was paying $8000 a year for insurance that was out of network! I did get some relief when I turned 65 and got on Medicare I'm just getting ****** off writing about it so End of Rant. .

I am sure YT is not fair to all of the content providers. I've been told that life is rarely fair. However, there never seems to be a shortage of content providers. I personally think Youtube is one of the greatest results of the internet. Good quality knowledge on demand on every subject I have ever searched for. I know it is not all good, but so far, I have easily been able to tell the difference. Like others, I used Ad-Block and others methods for awhile but now I just pay them and am good. After-all, I don't really mind paying for a service provided and you tube is my first and often last place I go to for knowledge.

When I was a teenager, if you told me that 10's of thousands (100's of thousands?) of people would share their knowledge publicly in a way almost everyone in world could access instantly and you could access this for only the cost of watching some stupid adds or a very small monthly fee. I would have been sure you were smoking crack. Yet here we are.

I also find YouTube invaluable for finding how accomplish some task at hand. It seems that whatever you want to do, someone has done it before and posted a video on the subject. I occasionally watch some presenters of interest (Joe Pieczynski, Tom Lipton, and This Old Tony, etc) but nearly as often as I did years ago. I don't use the service enough to justify a subscription so I will put up with the ads. I just wish that they would be more aligned with my interests.

I just saw the neatest commercial on You Tube while watching Gutfield. Fox puts up a sign across the screen that blocks most of the commercial out and says "Sound has been muted because of the commercial." The funniest part was behind the sign at the top of the screen you could see a guy with a Frisbee stuck in the side of his head. Fox is at least taking a stand against unwanted You Tube commercials.
