I'm really tired of a) getting one nurse after another and leaving without seeing a doctor, and b) never seeing the same doctor twice in a row.
On the up side, sometimes the doctor is American.
This is one of the major reasons we've been in Thailand (mostly) for the last few years. I have psoriasis, after turning 65 and losing my health insurance for medicare, the meds I was taking weren't covered. A bi-monthly dose was $20k. The meds I prescribed after was around $6k/month. The dermatologist I went to in Bangkok prescribed the same medicine, manufactured by the same company, but a different brand name (the US brand name not offered here) at slightly more than 10% of the US meds cost. This is including the doctor visit too. I had to get blood tests, 5 x-rays, these were ordered from a 'walk-in' appointment, I was in and out about 1.5 hours. Went back the next day for the results. total cost less than $260.
Most times going to the hospital to schedule a appointment, they would ask if I could wait, and within 20-30 minutes, I was in the Dr office. These Dr's are in Bumrungrad Hospital, Bangkok, a medical tourism hospital as people come from around the world for treatment here, and it's one of the most expensive hospitals, but still a bargain. They even have a place in the airport, so you fly in, and the hospital has arranged everything, hotel, etc.
I've seen a urologist there a few times, he is Thai, studied and practiced in North Carolina.
So different from here in the US, where our Dr. office says they will call back, unless we actually go to the office, we will never get a answer, and a appointment is days/weeks out.
(But, my little shop is just sitting there in FL, I'm here, wanting to do things in the shop that I can't. lol)
