What Did You Buy Today?

Finally received my 1um scales ordered via AliExpress. They seem to be intact without any shipping damage, so that is good. Now to figure out the wiring and hook it up to my ELS. After I ordered them, I realized I should have bought the slim one for the cross-slide. Oops. I will figure something out and mount it anyways.

Those are pretty compact to begin with, are they optical or magnetic?

And the scales seem to pass the first test, set my ELS for 1um scales, move it roughly 3 inches and about 3 inches shows up on my ELS display. Haven't tested them completely, but at least they both pass the basic sanity test.

Our BP has only 1 hp motor with 1 HP VFD with single pulley, was varispeed but tit was converted.

Back gear works...socks to go slow but it allows full cutter count.

My friend/coworker was kind enough to loan me his open bed pickup truck to go exchange empty acetylene cylinders for 2 quantity 145 ft.³ acetylene cylinders.

One of these goes on my “large torch” cart, & the other goes on my straight torch (i.e. dedicated cutting torch) cart.

One of the empty cylinders that I brought in this morning was even smaller than the cylinders in the above photo. Matheson Tri-Gas charged me $45.32 to upgrade it to a size “Small” (i.e. 145 ft.³) cylinder.

The refill for 145 ft.³ acetylene was $91.47 + $8.25 Haz Mat fee + tax = sort of an expensive hobby.

As always, Matheson’s customer service & expertise were stellar.

I have always wondered what those are used for.
Inspection of shafts and features for roundness, concentricity, straightness etc. especially when turning parts between centers. Once I put it back together I’ll post some pictures in use. It’s one of those things you don’t know you need until you need it.

This makes sense!
