What Did You Buy Today?

Good idea on the color coding.

I am all for making things easier on myself, the colour coding is, to all intents, basic, but I know what inserts are what just by looking.

I tend to keep my threading inserts in one pile in a specific space in the drawer. Everything else is sat side-by side sorted into style such as

CCMT060202 + CCMT060204 + CCMT 060208 normal inserts one atop the other.
CCGT060202 + CCGT060204 + CCGT060208 ally inserts one atop the other.

I also keep a diamond saw file on hand for touching up the edges of the inserts. Found that it makes a difference when the edge is given a light touch up.

iGaging DRO to replace the atrocious factory quill DRO in my PM-30 mill. Arrived from Grizzly next day; $65 shipped with tax. Has nice big display that can be mounted on the included swinging arm or other included bracketry. They even included 4 batteries, which I originally thought was really neat. In retrospect, I hope that's not an 'ominous foreshadowing' of battery gluttony ahead. Oh well, can not be worse than what I already have!

The ones I used were good on batteries, I believe that one takes 2 2022's. When I used the ac adapter I got erroneous reading though from the house current, stick with the batteries.

Good to know on avoiding the AC power adapter. Yes, this took two 2032 batteries. Glad to hear they last well. Very simple to adapt and replace in a PM30. Took about 15 minutes in total.

First impressions; There is a lag in time between the quill movement and the display, which will take a bit to acclimate to. I can see it'd be easy to overshoot your mark if you're plunging. That said, it's still better than what was on the machine originally. It was that bad.

As an update to the above, I received a message from the supplier I purchased the bulk of the above items from today. I have italicised the items from the supplier for clarity. Total order was £333.78 ($435.98c USD / $599.21c CAD / 1714.52 PLN / 42115.63 RUB)

Basically, they upgraded delivery from free 2-3 day post to prority before 1pm Next day delivery (Silver service Next day via Royal Mail, not cheap!) and threw in a couple extra boxes of inserts for free based on my prior purchase history with them. Inserts I actually needed but did not order this time around, so that was a bonus!

The above is one of many reasons I always stick with good suppliers. They recognise the fact you choose to use them as a supplier over others and always do what they can to ensure the transaction is smooth from start to finish.

Definitely be ordering plenty more from them in the future................. They have a lot of items I need/want. welp, there goes next months money before I even have it! aaaah well, such is life.

Never had any issues running three iGaging SS scales from iGaging adapters; were yours the SS plus or the older Aluminum scales?

Also haven’t had any issues with the three scales being powered through the TouchDRO adapter (or with the two SS scales & TDRO on the Mini-Lathe.

Needed a larger 4-jaw and have been satisfied with the other San Ou chucks I've been using, so picked this up from CME in Mich. Packaging left a lot to be desired, but somehow arrived with no apparent damage. 160mm

They were the newer scales, igage said the adapters were picking up electric interference. When I stoped using the adapters the issue went away, it may have been a shielding issue, I didn't pursue it further. I like the igage instruments.
