What Did You Buy Today?

Sorry, I'm casting mate. I always have my safety glasses on, no exceptions.

You only get two eyes.

My problem is, I do NOT like double glazing, which is what I get when I wear a shield or safety goggles! That said, my specs have safety lenses anyway, case of having to with me.

Still, I always fit the clear arm fited safety-wings to close the side gap and I am looking at a potential top guard.

I have the different diopter safety glasses. I have +1.0, +1.5, +2.0, +2.5 and +3.0. I use the 1.0 for wandering around, the 1.5 for general benchwork, 2.0 for closer up benchwork, 2.5 for machine tool work and 3.0 for layout and reading.

@SouthernChap

Having to wear specs from a young age, I am used to having to do things differently where eye safety is concerned. Absolute nightmare when wearing a full face, double filter spray mask though!!

Wierdly, I do have the diopter plates for my welding/brazing goggles and yes, they do help, but still a pain having to wear specs with zero options for contacts.

oh, believe it. I'm sure there's quite a few.

Fireable offence not to wear safety glasses when I was working at one particular place, though given my glasses have safety lenses, I was given a pass on that requirement but I was asked to wear a full face shield, even though it was not a requirment for me. Wore one anyway since I rather like my face the way it is and I want to be able to see and not be blind or scarred.

Did you make the mag chuck you just got?

Seriously though, do you have an equivalent to McMaster-Carr in the UK?

No, for a number of reasons and those are mainly due to not knowing how to do that, though I am sure there is a guide somewhere.

If there was a guide, I would consider attempting to make one.

As for McM-C, no we do not have that here.

Managed a facility design project at an Armstrong Ceiling Tile plant about six years ago: in addition to safety shoes, everyone outside of the offices was required to wear gasketed safety glasses or goggles due the dust hazards. I was able to find gasketed readers and still keep a pair in my car.

Another rule was no cell phone use while walking. Failure to comply with any of the safety rules was met with being escorted off the premises and a lifetime ban.
