What Did You Buy Today?

@ChazzC

See this is where I have an issue with things like this.

I already have 3JSC, 4JSC, 4JIP, 6JSC, ER32 faceplate & Collets, 5C collet chuck and collets, including expanding collets, all of which I either use regularly, or have used at least three or four times.

Yet, I have three faceplates, none of which I have used yet. If I venture to source the expanding chuck, other than maybe 2 possible times of use, it will most likely sit gathering dust, so why bother with it?

Sure it may well be a "nice to have", but for me it is a case of, yes, it would be "nice to have", but how often would I use it, if at all??
You & Steve can borrow mine; already has the 7x backplate. Just give me a heads-up before stopping by so I can dig it out.

Yeah, I have that problem too. I did talk myself into the Flexi-Chuck to bundle shipping cost with the Diamond Tool Holders and because Gary had an introductory deal on a complete kit with one of each of the three adapters, but then figured I should get spare adapters and an extra backplate so I could more easily move between machines for second operations, so it got a life of its own.

I’m getting better, but those guys over on the Northern forum keep tempting me.

Eh, I'll just swing by sometime. I've a mate with one of those inflatable kayaks; it'd only be short paddle after all! :cool:

:grin:

Well Hell ! If you make it over in 2 weeks , hit Cabin Fever as well . You can walk from Chazz's place ! :idea:
Weell, one could walk from my home, and it being January in South Central Pennsylvania they wouldn’t get overheated, but it will take 8-1/2 hours; bicycle would be less than 2 hours!

I didn't buy it today , rather dug it up from the basement . A little DotCo air grinder . I paid $100 for it way back when in the late 70s when starting out and thought it was damn expensive back then . I did get to use it prototyping the first artificial heart pumps for John Hopkins . Mounted in the CNC lathe I ran a multiple variable pitch lead grooves into Delrin . Pretty cool little job that made the company some big bucks . But , back to the point . $100 back in the late 70s , now ..........................
