What Did You Buy Today?

You can always clean it up on the lathe too.
I used the deburring wheel and then the buffing wheel… Feels fine with that.

But this one would be even better…

Needed some bigger single O flute end mills for the router table. Ended up ordering two different types.

The SpeTool look awesome. Amazing looking grind on them. Super sharp. Might see what else is available from this brand.

The HQMaster leave a lot to be desired. The cutting edge is formed from the round blank and the flute. There isn't any clearance angle behind the cutting edge because it's just the round blank. Will probably rub like mad. Might try to dress them up on the "Sheckel". I'll use them when I think I'll hit a nail or screw! (I have the HQMaster in 1/8", and they work OK-ish. Hopefully these will too.)

weird that handle is bakelite I didn't know anyone still made stuff with bakelite, and then they powder coated it???

I did not not read the specs and had to go back to read those… yeah, made out of Bakelite and powder coated finish… interesting…

I picked up one of theses to store the HBM tooling in. I like the taller drawers so larger tooling can fit in it.

The web shows a softer shade of blue than what I have.
I don't have the exact one, of course. I have it's little brother.
Pretty well-made for the price point.

I have that exact hand wheel: not powder-coated, regardless of the description; the high gloss is normal for cast phenolic resin materials.

Too many (57-ish?) years ago, I made a small batch of Bakelite in my kitchen using a Pyrex® boiling flask, a homemade reflux condenser and a lot of patience: it took hours to react. After the reaction was complete, I poured the resulting mass into a clean mayonnaise jar lid (they were made from steel back then) and allowed it to air cool while washing the residue out of the flask with Sodium Hydroxide. The finished disk had a beautiful, high-gloss red top surface and a slightly concave dull flesh-colored bottom, with the "knurl" from the lid clearly molded in the rim. The experiment was from a chemistry experiments for home labs; my Mother had a BA in Chemistry (as a Liberal Arts College, Goucher College doesn't award BS Chemistry degrees) and had worked for Johns Hopkins Hospital labs so she supervised. Alas, the disk has gone the way of most possessions from my youth, but is fondly remembered.

I have the same one in orange (my wife's favorite color) next to my lathe. Really can't beat them for the price and I'm going to get one to put next to the mill. I think if you took the stickers off most people wouldn't be able to guess the source.

It's funny, but yesterday I sold a welder to a local machinist setting up a new shop and he saw the orange cart next to my lathe and said "I put the same box next to every single machine I have for all the tooling".

May I ask where you purchased it?
Directly from Vevor.

The outs side surfaces, but the spokes and inside of the rim are horribly rough right from the course sand mold. I think it would take hours of grinding & filing. I've got a couple of cast iron ones that I can modify to fit, otherwise I would buy one.
There are two oil holes over the shaft that I think I should keep garbage out of. The ball oilers I have should work, after drilling the casting to fit.
