What Did You Buy Today?

Arrived today:

KLOT Saws n Arbors.jpg
KLOT on eBay, 50mm Carbide Slitting Saws and 10mm, 13mm & 16mm Low-Profile Arbors.

Saws are things of beauty, and the arbors are well made & finished, plus come with spare screws. Didn't necessarily need Carbide, but were better priced than HSS.

I’ve been trying to figure out how to set my new mill up mobile and finally decided to price Carrymaster. Had a bad experience with the cheap copies so won’t go that way again.

Before buying online I figured a quick search here was in order. What do you know, these lightly used ones popped right up. Gonna be nice holding up my baby Bridgeport.

Arbor press came today. 1/4" plywood crate with well designed metal corners. There were some breaks in the crate indicating a rough ride. Very minor damage that I can easily fix. The most important part (the main shaft) looks good. The rack machined on the pressure bar looks good. There is a hole in the bottom for accessories & a bolt to secure them. The rotary pressure plate had a spring pin for the pivot. It got mangled in shipping. I'll put it on the mill and use a carbide drill to remove the pin. The pressure plate is cast which may not be the best material, time will tell. The openings are raw sand cast finish. I can fix that also. The lever is a solid bar of steel, about 20mm. The ram is about 36mm square. The worst thing is the hand wheel, as cast & pretty rough. I may have a better one in my junk collection. All told the press looks perfectly useable. The clearance adjustments are merely bolts, no gibs. I can handle it with all the parts removed. $240 delivered.

The hand wheel is atrocious, with lots of sharp edges. I guess one could wire wheel it or grind it. I simply replaced it with a decent hand wheel. The new one is light years nicer and wasn't that expensive. Has a nice ergonomic shaped metal handle that smoothly turns as opposed to a piece of plastic pipe and a through bolt. Think I found the wheel on eBay.

Went to pick up the sander and a 36x40 granite table I bought and saw the cyclone dust collector. Its a Hammind. First usa made dust collector Ive seen in a while and for 250 bucks cant go wrong.

You can always clean it up on the lathe too.
