Hi steve
That's some clock you must be very proud of him.
It so happens that I am thinking of building a wooden clock for my next project.
I have plans of a wall clock by J RANDLE. available free on the net. These plans are full size so you can stick them on and cut around the edges, sounds easy dont it but I bet it aint.
Also it seems a good excuse to by a band saw!!!!
I want to put it in a long case and have it chime "Roman Chimes". this uses 2 bells, a low one for 5 and a high one for 1

So--- 7 is Dong Ding Ding.--------And 11 is Dong Dong Ding.---4 is Ding Dong--Get it?

Here is a drawing of the clock movement. as its free to download on the net i think its OK to pass on just this one sheet.
