x2 on that, the cover looks like this:

My cover looks like this, maybe it's newer/older? But either way it's a decent book for the price. I bought it, and a lot more from that series, from the Book Depository. You can find them on ABE Books. They are in England but their prices are cheaper than here in the U.S. and postage is included.

Joe,

It looks to have a similar title but a different author. If that book is the same author as the Tubal Cane YouTube series (AKA: Mr Pete), I'm sure it's good and your endorsement is also helpful. -Matter of fact, I would have gotten that book but saw your post late and already ordered the other. In any event, it's good we're passing along books that help us small-timers because some of them are heavily laden with chemistry and molecular modeling which, is good but, a lot more info than most of us are interested in.

The copyright is 1984. It is still being printed.

Apparently, there is more than one individual using the name "Tubal Cain", and there is some controversy surrounding this and is viewed as in poor taste, to put it mildly, by some.

We require our students to get Heat Treatment Selection and Application of Tool Steels by William E. Bryson. Very good book. Also use his book on cryogenic treatment.

Just got the MSC December Super Saver flyer.
The stainless steel wrap foil that Tony mentioned is on sale at MSC for up to 1/2 price.

There is a good book on heat treating called Tool Steel Simplified by Frank R. Palmer. I think it is out of print now but I recently bought one from Amazon.

Ray you must visit the knife making sites. There are numerous articles on heat treating steel and plans to built heat treating ovens.
