Followup on the regulator repair.
What I thought was a simple cap wasn't. Installed it and it leaked out the front, knob side of the regulator.
I'd found the O-ring inside the case and after more searching found a spring. HUM bored the cap to let the spring maybe press on a diaphragm. Still leaked out the front. More searching showed a piston like part hanging on the circuit board. Can't believe that didn't short something out when it flew in there.
Long story short the cap needed a bore for the piston with O-ring to seal, and a groove outside that for the spring. Had to grind a sort of trepanning tool to cut the spring recess. Most of the afternoon spent repairing a 20 some year old plasma, that could die anytime. lol
