POTD- PROJECT OF THE DAY: What Did You Make In Your Shop Today?

I hear ya. that's funny as ****.
By coincidence , the first Hooters we ever went to the boys were 7and 8 years old . It was up your way @woodchucker in Allendale NJ . We went up to the national tournaments for 3 years and had a blast . They had lakes up there that had diving platforms that were beautiful . We always went there by way of the Delaware Water Gap . Ah , how I miss those baseball days . :)

Mostly putzing on summer things. Starting to think of the crane again, which means a bunch of wire wheeling with the old as the hills grinder that needs its cord replaced.

Looking for a shorter flexible cord. Shortest on the shelf around here was 25'. So went with it. It was a littler larger than the factory cord, so getting the cord through the hole in the strain relief was a major pain. Finally broke down, stripped the jacket back to expose the wires. Then applied a liberal amount of 'Non-professional aqueous based friction reducing jelly from Kentucky", and pulled the cord through the relief. An inch of the jacket made it through into the grinder on the other side. But that inch was enough...
Fortunately it was easy to wash off the excess non-professional aqueous based friction reducing jelly in the sink, being water based and all...

Then trim the wires, and crimp a few connectors, bolt it together and run it. This old grinder lives out on the bench, usually plugged in. Having this thicker longer cord will be nice. I'm used to working with a much shorter cord... :)

Working on EDC pen designs. Internal O-ring retention in the cap. Clean design but fussy to assemble. Love the Frag pattern but takes a while on the Deckel with the dividing head. 1st time anodizing aluminum. Black turned out very nice. Sealed with nickel acetate. makes for a fantastic finish. More prototype designs on the way.

Another design iteration and refinement of anodizing process. Getting closer to a production design. Hopefully hit the EDC market soon. Working on a twist version with a deep carry clip next IMG_6585.jpegIMG_6582.jpegIMG_6581.jpeg

that's a nice deep candy red! If you want it to have a bit more "pop" try cooling the acid bath during the anodising step. I use reuseable plastic ice bricks to get it down to 20C and keep it there. If the bath was warmer (hard to avoid in central TX) I got a very thick oxide layer that gave the piece a deep almost crayony (or lipsticky) colour.

Thanks !! I’ll try that. Acid does get fairly warm. Maybe 30-35C after a couple parts. I’m using a small bath.

Mowed the yard, sold my little atlas MF mill, and commenced to straightening a baler driveline. Guy brought it yesterday, broke it, and welded a sleeve over it. Of course, bowed to the farethewell, I've about got it straight, but probably should have just welded a new tube on. Didn't get pics of the before, as per my usual sop.
Update, couldn't get it straight at the yoke, going to have to retube it anyway. Wasted a whole day.

The end blew out of the regulator inside my plasma cutter. Certain it's too old to get parts so made a new one out of a scrap of aluminum. Think its metric but 18 tpi was close enough.

Back to the first project.

Years ago we would travel down to Cocoa Beach for a Presidents Weekend national baseball tourney . We always went to a Bar/Restaraunt called Coconuts on the Beach . They had quite a few bikini contests down there and all the pictures were hanging on the walls inside the place . The young boys would go missing every year . They used to have these contests on Youbube but I haven't seen them lately . Still have all the Hooter's calenders we collected over the baseball years from across the country . These days they all sit in a drawer and have been replaced with National Geo pictures .

I figure they are both the same as .......................I'm looking at places I'll never go .

I’ve been some places I never thought I would go to…………..
