Oliver Lathe ????

I'd guess it is for Columns, fence posts and/or telephone poles. It is just a damn big wood lathe.

How do they fit a 62+ foot lathe on an 85 inch pallet?

Damn big lathe!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hate to try to check that with a straight edge !

I wasn't aware that Oliver made metal working equipment. It does look as though it could be used on wooden columns, Randy suggested. Id like to see that one in person.

that looks more like a shaft lathe and pipe lathe for a ship yard, the only reason i say that is i worked for otis ship yard in la for a while as a welder and they had one that could cut some big shafts and thread 100ft lengths of pipe for conduet and as a teenager i worked at a milling plant that made telephone poles the machine that does that is sizer and debarker the tree goes inside it it debarks it then planes it down to the spec, either way its a huge lathe:thinking:
