I found an odd pair of calipers at a garage sale. It was only a few bucks, so I decided to buy it, even though they did not turn on. They are made by "Quality" (try searching on that term!). There is a 4 and a half digit LED display and a small charging port. I took them apart and noted that there was a small NiCd battery inside, probably dead. I traced the wires out the charger port and noted that it was a micro phono plug with center positive. I let it have 12 V through a 220 ohm resistor, and it charged up. They measured 0.5003 on a dowel pin. They are kind of cute, but the battery is bad and will only hold a charge for a short time. Are these familiar to anyone? They are probably not worth much, but they are unusual.

I think you will find a little more info if you use the search “digital thickness caliper”. Or, some call it a “sheet metal gauge/gage”…Good Luck, Dave.

I have one of those someplace. Mine is a Silvac instrument IIRC. I think the battery is shot on mine too. Never use the thing.

Hmm...Now I will have to track it down.

You might try measuring the size of the battery and finding either a replacement NiCd or perhaps a similar sized Lithium battery. The non-rechargable will generally last very well in this kind of service.
