Yep back here whining about something I can't do anything about but still makes my feathers stand up. As some already know I bought some inserts and insert holders from Amazon. first shipment was not usable because the screw was smaller than the hole in the insert, so I chose replacement rather than refund. Well, the second shipment was exactly like the first. Not useable because the screw was smaller than the hole in the insert. Took them both back to the UPS store to return them to Amazon and UPS accepted the first one with no charge for shipping or packaging. But I had to pay around $7 dollars for them to package the other one. Both identical both going to the same place, and I'll bet you the kid at UPS put both of them in the same box. Me being already disgusted with Amazon for sending something that is not usable twice and causing me to drive to town to return them and had to pay someone to put them in a box. But the guy that was ahead of me was shipping a lap top and they wanted $80 to bubble wrap it and ship it. So, he picked it up and left the store without shipping it. Folks I am not greedy and not cheap. And even though I am retired and live on a fixed income I live a very comfortable financial lifestyle. It just pisses me off how there is always some kind of added expense around every corner. We don't realize it but every time we spend our own money now it cost us to spend our own money. Every month I contribute to Hospice on line. Last night Microsoft Edge blocked me from using the Hospice link to donate and tried to force me to pay thru Microsoft saying that the site I was using was not secure. So I used my phone with the Safari browser, and it worked just fine. Checked Google Chrome today and they allowed me to access the Hospice website. I think from now on I will just be mailing a check to Hospice the first of the month and saving myself the cost of spending my money.

For Amazon returns , we can drop them off at Kohls at no charge AND they will pack them if needed for no cost .

that doesn't work all the time. Amazon doesn't do it for all transactions. I have done 3 or so returns, one was allowed to kohls, the other 2 were not. When I asked why not, they said that it's not available for that item. Nothing more.

The agreement Amazon has with UPS has a number of different categories. Depending on the item and which return depot you can drop it off with just the seller’s package with no box or label at Staples or UPS (Staples has a person, UPS has self-service) and the returns are commingled.

Larger, higher value or items with Lithium batteries need to be individually packaged and sent via UPS. If you fully package & label the item it’s free; if UPS prints the label, it’s $1; if UPS packs & labels it’s $7.

Amazon lists the available options during the return process, but it took me a couple of returns to get used to this new setup.

The stuff she returns probably falls into the easy return category.

Most likely as none of the stuff is expensive . The latest was the wife's beach umbrella auger . Worked GREAT for digging an oversized hole . :big grin: Not so much for keeping it in the sand . o_O

I feel your pain. Seems like half the stuff I buy these days ends up going back or getting a refund on.
In this particular case I probably would have just made a new screw or washer to make the tool usable and made a point of never
buying from that vendor again. In the game of cheap import tooling, many hearts are broken, many fortunes lost, many a beautiful maiden
pining away for her young and handsome shipping container, never to arrive....

Tune in next week for another thrilling episode of "How the world turns"

I use amazon a lot.

Like a real lot. I have been burned on some returns but it is unusual. However, I buy a lot of sardines, I get an autoship of about a case a month usually.

For whatever reason they simply cannot figure out how to ship a case of sardines without damaging the cans and often causing leaks.

I ***** to their CS department and they send me a new case free. They dont want returns on things like these so all of the undamaged cans get washed and checked for leaks and I eat them.

Probably got $100 worth of free sardines in the last year alone.

So I cant complain about returns really.
