Happy Holidays to everyone Well I picked up this central machinery t33274 lathe a few months ago and the guy I got it from said it was purchased from a HF wharehouse sale. He said He never had it running ( Im starting to realize why lol )Anyway I hooked up a 2hp 220 v single phase motor I had and it tripped my breaker.found a wire I hooked up wrong and tried again ,same thing. After searching posts on this site I found out the contactors km1 and km2 were bad .I also found the forward reverse switch was wired wrong, Put in all three new contactors and rewired the switch powered it up looked good put it in forward and the motor ran but in reverse and when I put in in reverse the breaker tripped.Any idea ware I should start looking for the problem ? I probably hooked something up wrong although I did label everything . Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, for 220 volts there should be 3 wires to the motor
Can you snap a photo of the motor terminals?
Probably more chance of a contactor wire error but let's start at the motor

Yes its a 220 v motor. its off of a import mill so I had to make the connector plates from z2-u2-v1 Just curious ,do the start or run capacitors need to be moved ? they are currently on v2 to z2,w2 start cap. and z2,w2 to w1,z1 run cap. I will get you a pick of the motor terminals in the morning. Thank you for responding.

Here is the pic of the terminals. The red wire is u1 and the white wire is z2 and is not connected. The red wire is an inline fuse that did not blow with the breaker if that helps.

Is there a data plate on the motor?- post a pic if there is
Is it a dual voltage motor or 220 volt only?

Does the breaker still trip with the motor disconnected?

OK. Two types of motors can be used in these. The 220 volt dual capacitor motor doesn't use the straps (in this application) and requires 4 wires from the control box for forward and reverse. They came OEM with a dual voltage motor which used 3 control wires. We may have to add a 4th wire if you only have 3 from the box.
Need to disconnect the motor and make sure the breaker doesn't trip, then we can review the hookup

Ok, I have the straps and the wires from the panel removed. Do you want me to new try it powered on in forward and reverse?

Yes, try it
If you only have 3 wires to the motor look at this diagram of your contactor box. Is there a wire on Z2 coming down from the contactors or
is it empty?
