I started cutting the steel to size for a 2 X 72 belt grinder that I am building for the shop. I have been gathering the parts and pieces for this build for several weeks.
Started working on a die follower today. Takes a long time to go from 1-5/8 to 3/4 on my little bitty Atlas, but I got it! Now to work on the other half...
Had too much idle time so I went in the shop and finally made some handles for my clamps. 1.50" Delrin material. Still too cold for my blood, but at least is was above zero......
My bad I just I should have said it was a speed wrench because the Y-axis handle gets in the way of the vise handle so we made something that will work a little better. The was a 3 tapered shank that will not fit any of Chuck's machines and was to large to put in his lathe so I turned it for him. Hey the whole idea is to help each other if we can it just makes our hobbies more enjoyable.
The speed handle was made from an old mill handle for my mill vice. I got some handles from a forum member a while back with this project in mind. Todd had the press to handle (pun intended) it.
The 7/8" drill in the picture was a MT3 taper drill I got at a flea market. I needed the taper turned to a straight shank to fit my tailstock chuck and mill drill chuck. Again, Todd had the capacity to do the job. He also drilled out the silly undersized non-threaded holes on my LMS 1-2-3 blocks. Thanks again Todd!
BTW, the speed handle works great!
