Rescuing an abandoned Diesel 12 valve in Europe

Last few days i've also been doing a bit of sanding, and last night i pulled an all nighter, but now the entire car is sanded in P400, now i have to go two more rounds with P600 and P800 before it can go for paint.

Today after work i managed to buy couple of cutting stones, and cut up the body shell. Then i went to the junkyard, i really don't like dealing with those people. Call them and had to help them load up the scrap metal, i did take a hammer to the rear wings. Now i have to sweep the garage, store the rear suspension, engine and gearbox. After that i can get back to work on the wagon.

With the parts car dealt with i spend my free time wet sanding this car. I went thru double the sandpaper i thought, this primer is rock hard. But finally i finish all 3 stages, P400, P600 and P800. The new front bumper only got P600 and P800 because it was very smooth. Now to decide on a color, I want a solid red, no metalics so it can be easily blended in and cheap to repair, this will be a work horse. I found this Peugeot EKB red to be most suited but i'll see if the paint store has something better to offer. Because it's a full repaint i can choose whatever color i want, also there is a fine line in red color where it can look like a fire truck. If any one has a suggestion about a paint code please share it, I've been satisfied with paint quality on the little niva so i'll buy "Body" (manufacture) paint again.

Today i bought paint and drove this car about 20 km to the paint booth. Paint prices are more than double than when i painted the little niva. The paint color is very close to peugeots best red, but we decided to paint it over a white base to get it brighter, the name of the color is trafic red or Ral 3020. My job at the paint booth was to mask it from overspray. That task took me over 2,5 hours, its a big car, even the painter said this might be the longest roof i've painted and he had 4 vans in his yard.

Today i got the call, we run out of paint. So i quickly dropped what i was doing rushed and bought one more kg of ral 3020 paint. Took it there, the car was painted in the door jams and was in white, i did buy 1kg white paint to use as a base. I left and couple hours later i got a second call come and get it it is done. The guy running the paint shop is a relative and knows what he's doing he only charged me his expenses 50 euros. I only found 2 runs in the paint that i'll sand back and polish letter. Now it being all shiny i may find more motivation to get it all assembled.

I've been working on this car every time i have free time, First on the list is for the dashboard to come out. Then the front carpet, it is wet and very dirty. With the two dashboard next to each out you can see the difference at the airbag. Next i carry out the carpets and all carpeted panels in front of the small garage and gave them a good washer, i used a bunch of chemicals and my pressure washer and got them clean. Now they will bake in the sun for few days till they are dry.

With the carpets drying i started working on the trunk door. I decided to go with a new style of the lion but the letters and number get reused with new glue, i did turn the last number upside down just for the fun of it. Its funny when 8/10 people don't notice it. One update i did is bigger speakers, amp and wiring to support them in the trunk door. All in all the trunk door has more than 30 pieces took my entire afternoon.

Today i continue assembling the back of this car, took off the back bumper installed the black trim. Then i installed it back on the car, put back all the bolts, then i assemble the trunk, spare tire, panels, carpet. Then i moved to the front, the carpet is dry so i wipe down the floor and installed the carpet. This was very difficult because the heater box is installed. Last thing i installed was the rear lights, the passenger side light has some water damaged i'll run it till i found a better light.

Today i spent the entire day working on this car. First i disassembled both dashboards, the new one doesn't have a airbag so i transfer it from the other. Then i took all the vents and pipes for ventilation and pressure washed them, also all the plastic going in got washed. The weather is very warm so drying only took minutes in the sun. I assembled the dash and installed it in the car, then i install the steering column, carpets and began mounting the side moldings on the doors. One needed a bit of glue and i only ting hand to hold it in place was a micrometer.
