What Did You Buy Today?

The R/H Tangential Tool Holder and Grinding Jig I ordered from Eccentric Engineering, as referenced in post #14,928 arrived today, Christmas Eve, of all days. A nice early christmas present. I was not expecting it to arrive quite so quickly. Very impressed with delivery time!

To think, this started thanks to @SouthernChap gifting me the L/H version recently. These things are multi-capable, so it makes sense to me to have both variants.

Yes, I have honed the ground faces and that does make a difference.

Now all I am waiting for is the additional tool-blanks I ordered (not from Eccentric) to arrive.

Happy Christmas! (or should It be "Boxing Day," in which case it arrived early?)

Gary somehow managed to have my Diamond Holders & Flexi-Chuck delivered on the day before my birthday (well, for him it was already my birthday) a few years ago.

The flexi-chuck was the subject of a BlondiHacks video a while back.

It looks like the kind of workholding that one may not use everyday but when it gets used it makes you very glad you have it.

Certainly impressive shipping times.

@SouthernChap

Yep, watched that,.

I looked at and considered the flexi chuck given some of the parts within the cycling hobby that are awkward to hold, though not sure I would have a use for one other than that and at nigh on £400 all in, It needs thinking about, but as noted, not sure I would use it more than once, possibly twice at most.

Trying to find a T-Shaped cutting blade that is available in the UK for the FoR holder. Not had much luck yet, but I'll keep looking.

IIRC, only a week or ten days, portal to portal (but then, postage was significant).

I discovered it watching Presso use it on a Titan .60 model aircraft engine (starts at 19:47):

I convinced myself that I needed one, and after confirming that Village Press would consider an article preparing & modifying the backplate for use on Mini-Lathe, Mini-Mill, RT (and maybe Tilt Table) and a review of using it I made the leap. The prep work and mods are complete with associated drawings & photos, but I’m still looking for a project.

@ChazzC

See this is where I have an issue with things like this.

I already have 3JSC, 4JSC, 4JIP, 6JSC, ER32 faceplate & Collets, 5C collet chuck and collets, including expanding collets, all of which I either use regularly, or have used at least three or four times.

Yet, I have three faceplates, none of which I have used yet. If I venture to source the expanding chuck, other than maybe 2 possible times of use, it will most likely sit gathering dust, so why bother with it?

Sure it may well be a "nice to have", but for me it is a case of, yes, it would be "nice to have", but how often would I use it, if at all??
