I work on P&W engines at work, so I really wanted the clock. I don't know if it works or not... I'll have to try it out when I get time to replace the batteries.
Ok, I've determined that the clock does not work... so I took it apart and found that it operates on a generic clock action...
...which was exactly what I was expecting. The good thing about this is that it will be easy to replace... the bad thing is that I can't seem to find a replacement that isn't made in China...
Is there a source for good quality USA made replacement actions for these? If not, is there a 'better quality' import?

There, likely, won't be a mechanism to replace that one that wasn't made in China.
Bite the bullet. Head to Michael's and pick up a mechanism off the shelf. Buying from Michaels is still supporting a US job. (I HATE Michael's for an unrelated reason but I'd bite the bullet if needed).
Skillcraft? Chicago lighthouse? I bet eBay has those institutional gov't surplus clocks. They're made in the USA and built like tanks. Use the guts from one of them and it'll outlast you.
I got a package from Falliston, MD today. Make that two! Dave decided to part with a whole fertilizer cart load of my pet toolholders (FIMS) as part of his retirement therapy, so I smashed the piggy bank like a junky. It's quite a lineup:
I'm underway getting them clean enough to present to their siblings.
And another toolpost in case an A-bomb takes out the other two (I can't think of anything else that would break one). Don't they look good together?

I used to buy from them and they have a decent inventory with all sorts of price ranges. Granted much will be the generic off-shore stuff but you might find some higher end ones. Saw a Seiko movement (quartz) that they had for 10.00 US so maybe that would be better? Dunno, your call. They’re in Arizona.
