What Did You Buy Today?

It arrived. It's not the ever elusive 20mil indicator. But it's literally very close.
Wondering if I can scan/scale/print a replacement face that's calibrated in 20 mil.

Alas, the stem is 8mm. But that gives the shop 3 different indicators with 8mm stems.
So at least there's options now. Might just have to make a couple of 8mm to .375 split sleeves or similar.

We just arrived back home from a 12 day road trip... we left home and drove to Gulf Shores, Alabama, just to eat at Lamberts Cafe. From there, we drove over to San Antonio, where we spent two days seeing the Alamo and the other attractions. The next stop was Sonora, Texas, to tour Sonora Caverns, then on to Carlsbad, New Mexico, where we toured Carlsbad Caverns National Park. While we were in that area, we also visited Guadalupe Mountains National Park. Next we drove over into Arizona and spent a couple of hours in Tombstone before driving on to Tucson to see Saguaro National Park. After leaving Tucson, we headed back east and visited White Sands National Park on the way back home.

To break up the longer days of driving, we found a couple of antique malls... just to get out of the truck for a while. At one of these malls, I found a pretty neat clock...

I work on P&W engines at work, so I really wanted the clock. I don't know if it works or not... I'll have to try it out when I get time to replace the batteries.

Would you believe, this is the very first Starrett anything in the collection? Normally this stuff is just too high end for the dregs floating in the toolboxes here!

Have a project where many fine comparison measurements will be needed. So a snap gauge or two would be handy. Was going to try to make something, but broke down and started shopping. Turns out hardware and raw materials is not a lot cheaper than buying something used. Now, *that* one hasn't arrived yet...

This one however, is because once you start you can't have a hole in the collection... :laughing:

The plan will be to adapt the 50mil or 0.5um indicator to one of these temporarily. It's just a screw for the indicator with maybe an adapter sleeve. So even I might be able to pull that off without screwing it up!

I have 2 Mahr snap gage sets down here with millimess indicators . 0-4" range and .00005 grads . They can go as I can't see 50 millionths any longer . :grin:
 
Needed something that I could feed down an engine cylinder and look back up at the valves and seats:

I've already got an "inspection camera", but it won't turn around in the cylinder so I can look back up at the valves.

120 bucks all in, so at least it wasn't too painful......

Technically I bought these a week ago but just got them in the mail.

A variety of switches a couple controllers, a couple pairs of timing gears and some belts that are way too small (my mistake on those)
I wanted to have a variety of things on hand for the stepper motor conversion.

That's some serious wind breakage there.
I suggest you talk to your doctor about that. Maybe some probiotics will help.
