What Did You Buy Today?

LOL, now I am feeling compelled to track down a hard copy. IMHO, this text needs to be the lead in/preface to any instruction on grinding single point tools.
AFAIK, Navy Training Manuals were all “softcover,” at least all of the ones I saw 50 years ago.

I guess you meant “print” or “hard copy” (yeah, my wife says I’m too picky).

Ah, but I said "hard copy" not "hard bound." Meaning to me printed on paper. "Can I get a hard copy of that?" when asking for a printout of something off a computer. Colloquial?

Thanks for that, I just added the schNavy manual to my collection (digital, free, fine with me).
Some of the on line copies have part of the top chopped. I found at least one in chpt. 5 IIRC I found the better copy not on the Archive, it was an .edu site.

My #1 rule is use the right tool for the job. Not having 'that' tool on hand cost me hours of avoidable work this week. Wimpy snap ring pliers :cussing:lead to a broken snap ring, the gigantipithicus spanner nut ugh! FIXED!!!

2-4.75 inches check!

No more wimpy auto parts store snap ring pliers.

Five more AXA tool holders and a 2MT reamer to clean up my lathe tailstock.

Set of Accusize inch counterbores.
IMG_3613.jpeg

Set of silicone tool trays. Menards had them on sale for less than $12. The small ones work great to keep drills, taps, and endmills from rolling off of the bench or mill table.

Mitutoyo edge finder and a set of deburring tools.
IMG_3615.jpeg

6” bench grinder and a CBN wheel. Started building a cutter grinder. Going to put a silicon carbide or diamond wheel on the other side to grind carbide lathe tools and boring bars.

Nice haul. Quick question & comment on your pooch. Are you down south? I've been fortunate to have had two mutt/Cut/Squirrel dogs in my life. Both were smart in doggy terms, playful and calm. Lost Cash, adopted from WV when I lived in VA, after 13 years. She got turned into the shelter because she didn't like rain so wasn't a "real" hunting dog. Still miss her a lot.
That’s Kricket, the last of our foster fails from San Antonio though we’ve since moved to upstate South Carolina. She’s my spirit dog

I saw this on local facebook marketplace a few days ago and it's been up for a while. So I offered a price I knew I could get my money back/ make a few bucks if I can't get it working. Along with the arm itself, the kid gave me 4 of those black storage bins of circuit boards, power supplies, etc. I'd guess most all of the control box is there- so at this point if i do a complete conversion, I'm way ahead with throwing the parts on ebay. The kid's father passed who did CNC conversions and his shop had a lot of machines he was trying to offload. This is a Miller MRV2 6 axis welding arm, and i'm having a heck of a time finding any sort of documentation or manuals to start figuring out how to get it working again. I'll call this a long-term project after I finish another LinuxCNC conversion of my VN12. Not sure what I'll use it for, but for the price- why not? welding arm.jpg

Thanks! Looks like a sweet puppy. We've adopted Wally from TX. He apparently had a really traumatic puppyhood. Loves my partner Diane, after a year he still won't come near me.
