What Did You Buy Today?

Started up a light manufacturing operation in a warehouse in the mid 90’s that only had single phase and we needed 3
Similar thing when I was moving my shop to a new building. They wanted over $6K to set a 3 phase transformer. Power line was already there. A contractor told me who to contact @ the power company. That contact told me to list all intended 3 ph equipment and estimated hours of running. He said "be generous with your estimates." They set a 3 ph transformer for free! 10 years later they had to replace it with a larger one as I kept adding equipment. They also changed the meter to the "demand" type. We had to be careful not to start bigger equipment simultaneously. The electric rate for the entire month is based on the highest demand for even a very short time. The largest motor was 40HP but there were machines with multiple motors that we started in sequence so each was up to speed before starting the next.

Starting out in 1978 I got a quote from BGE to run 3 phase to the house . I'm on an old original main road which is no longer the main road , but the poles are still on my road . By the time I moved the equipment in and went to have it installed , the price went to $6000 . This was less than 6 months later . Making $3.11 an hour I opted for a 10 HP RPC . $1680 from Wilke Machine in York Pa . Still have all the paperwork somewhere in my files .

Hey, I remember Wilke! Mostly woodworking machines, but I got my Taiwanese 8” (maybe 9”?) lathe there - wish I still had it.

Nothing spectacular...

A 7" faceplate (a shade under actually), the largest I can fit on the 7x, plus two clamping kits.

I also purchased a motor bracket for the lathe I am rebuilding.

Yes , they were . They had some top quality machines back in the days . :encourage:

I got sick of my finicky old Husqvarna and bought this little jewel this week.
The caps for the gas and bar oil are a little newfangled and I didn't get the one for the bar oil on right. It fell out while I was using it and the entire contents dribbled out on my pants. Grrr
I learned how to lock the cap after that.
