What Did You Buy Today?

Yes there was, back in the late '80's if my 4 remaining brain cells aren't playing games with me. If I recall there was another with Excedrin after that. I'm trying to remember when, but I've slept since then.
I remember that, people were really freaking out. These days, it wouldn't even make the bottom of page 3 on reddit.

I remember watching it on tv, and which house it was in, and who I was with, so I think it was 1982-83. I was just starting to shred a 20" bmx at that age. Why can't I have that kind of recall all the time?

Not what I bought but what I want to buy next…. I need to wait for the shop to be done… but I so want to just pull the trigger on the following:

ArcFlat weld table with legs and a couple of clamps (will make more clamps, just want a couple to see how those are done). AFLEGS discount code gets me the legs for free…

Fireball Fab Pack Mini square set in 6”

An Argon shielding gas tank for the TIG and one with mix for the Mig…

And all the water jet cut pieces to make the 2x72 belt grinder from Jerswoodshop plans

Wife is looking the other way… It is the moment to sneak this in… decisions, decisions…

And then there is that fiber laser we both want…link

And the Crossfire CNC plasma table

And, and…

You're going about it wrong. First get the Crossfire, so you can make the 2x72 parts yourself, and make your own $Arcflat$ style stuff, including the squares. You get the tool that makes the tools first, then get the tools you can't make.

A photo is worth…. (You guys have no idea how long I have been waiting to use that photo!! :D :D )

Of course! Get the CNC plasma machine first!! Duh!! And cut my own pieces for the grinder!

On the ArcFlat… I decided that I was not going to make that…. That one I am buying instead of making it myself.

I can feel your pain brother, but if the truth be told, there is a great deal of my misspent youth that if they appeared in my thoughts today I would still be eligible for incarceration. Nothing from 82-83 tho, I was gettin married then and trying to red herring my past as best I could.

It's all my wife's fault... I said "Just because I want doesn't mean I need one, I don't even know what to do with it" She said you will, so you better buy it before the price goes up, you can learn how to use it later. And she a good cook too! I don't know how I got so lucky, I must have been doing something right 30 years ago.

I have to buy my machinery when the wife isn’t looking.

You’ll love the D-bit grinder, though, especially if you’ve spent several years grinding lathe tools and the like by hand.

They look complicated at first, but it all makes sense pretty quickly. My Quorn seems to have a million levers and knobs, and EVERYTHING spins, swivels, extends, or flips upside down unless you lock it.

In use it’s pretty obvious, though (with sufficient hand waving, head turning, and tongue extension). Just a matter of figuring out how to orient the tool so that grinding leaves the flat plane you’re after.

Sharpie marks, scribed lines, good lighting, and magnification help a LOT. It’s easy to get turned around. Start with a LH lathe turning tool before attempting end mills and the like.

So I have zis deal with mein freund Jens over in Germany, where I send him my money and he sends me kleine little boxes like zis one hier. Okay, it is not so exclusiv of a deal, Jens will take money from almost anybody.

Inside are little bottles to keep my oil in. And the last free thing Ryanair ever gave away, a pack containing five gummibaerchen. Oh, and some Knipex too- piano wire cutters rated as big as they make. The jaws are hard like M2!
