What Did You Buy Today?

Lol. Sometimes I find a 'great deal' like that too!

Have a lathe follow rest that's way too much follow rest for my lathe. At least it was only a couple of $20 bills! Lol
I'm looking for follow rests for two different lathes...13" and 14" :)

Got another job done, making an adapter to mount a sprinkler on my wife's above ground pool. Something about aeration and scaring off birds. Anyway, needed to adapt the sprinkler thing to the outlet of the pump.

Bored and threaded the inside to fit the pump outlet. 10tpi.

Turned it around and threaded the OD 12tpi

That reminds me of the setup I made for our in ground pool when we lived in California. We lived on a corner lot next to a more busy road than I had thought when we bought the house. Well I decided to route some of the filtered water up onto the patio cover which overhung the pool by about 5 feet on the shallow end to provide some shade from the brutal sun.

The water fed into a 6" diameter pipe that I ran along the edge of the patio, the full width of the pool. I perforated the entire length, so that when I diverted some of the return water, it provided a very nice waterfall. Great for knocking out road sounds or noisy neighbors and very pleasure to watch.

That is the Yin, the Yang, well the waterfall worked just like a swamp cooler. The 8-9 foot fall the water took in my waterfall pulled the heat out of the water, cooling the pool down almost 20-25 degrees, defeating my solar pool heating system. Now there were times that it was a benefit as the pool would too often get too hot to swim in. But for the most part it made the pool cooler than we wanted. So the waterfall ran far less than I would have liked it too.

Got a couple things off a retired machinist:

IMG_4178.jpeg

Got a nice No. 91C tap wrench (a ‘sweep’ as he called it?)
He bought it new and other than his owners markings it’s in great shape.

I also couldn’t pass up some nice USA shackles and a monster (to me) hook!

The shackles I use. Not sure what I’m using the hook for but I couldn’t pass it up! LOL

$100 for the lot

Nice 91C. Great price with the box. Congrats.

I have a 91A and 91B. Would like to find a 91C at a reasonable price with the V still in good condition.

Saw this for sale locally on FB Marketplace…

For 75.00 I just could not resist… when I picked it up the seller showed me his shop… Probably spent an hour or more just talking to him…

Jeweler, blacksmith, glass blowing, teaches all these arts…oh and also an artist… He encouraged me to visit this website:

Florida

Artist Blacksmith

Association

To learn more and also attend some of the meetings…

He was having fun with some spare material and made this…

He made these machines:

The one on the right (green) he bought the one on the left he made as well…but that one needs work…

And took some photos of his vise as the one I bought is missing the spring and a wedge. I will need to get some spring steel to make that…

There was so much to see in that little shop…he invited me to visit anytime…and I will take him up on it. So much to learn..so much…

Funny thing is that I need to fly out to San Francisco and I was finishing work that I will need there…and here I am driving to get this and spending a couple of hours…

And there an open invitation from another forum member as well…I know I will spend even more time there because he makes model engines!!!!! That visit really needed to wait until I am back…

Now back to work…
