This new-to-me Chinese lathe(same as a Grizzly 4016) has only one gib strip on the saddle, although it has provisions for two. Here’s a pic of the one, it looks easy enough to make, is it just mild steel or something more exotic? Grizzly still sells them, only $4, but shipping will probably quadruple that price.

Are you missing a gib? Were there 2? Or does your one gib have scratches in them? Lets see the other side if it's scratched. OOPs....I re-read it....one is missing. I suspect it is cold roll steel and if they have one in stock they could put it in a Flat Rate Envelope and postage would be $9.65. Buy one and don't hassle with trying to make one
