TouchDRO V3 Almost Ready ...

There is not going to be "V3 final". The build in Beta track is about a month old. It has two known bugs:
1. Calibration wizard times out when the adapter is in idle mode (it waits for 10 seconds for 10 samples; needs to wait 12 seconds)
2. When switching between 2D and 3D sub-datum modes with 2D sub-datums, Z axis position is still updated (should be left alone).

Once I have time to fix those, the next build will be a "Release Candidate 1". It I don't get bug reports, I will probably push it to production tract in a month after it get into Beta (or whenever I finish missing major portions of the user manual). After that, I have two full pages of things to add/change, including a number of Plus features, UI tweaks, etc.

Thanks, Yuriy. Having worked with software for many (too many?) years, I should have known better than to use the term "final:" should have said "out of testing & development," even though I know the answer to that one, too "Real soon now."

I've noticed a bug in the current version where the select closest point function doesn't seem to work anymore in any of my workspaces. Is this something you've come across before Yuriy?

It used to work perfectly fine before

Can this be used with magnetic scales? I have a DRO Pro's DRO on my lathe and it is very clunky for using tool offsets and am considering replacing the readout because of this.

Yes. Most of the scales DRO Pros sell are 5V quadrature.

I had another person report this, but haven't had a chance to debug the issue (have a project due at work next week, so last few weeks have been crazy busy). I'll try to get to it over the weekend, unless something else gets in the way.

Well, you know... I'm a trained professional with Master's degree in Computer Science and over 20 years of experience .
I know all sorts of tricks. In this case the trick was to first store a value in a variable called "lastPosition" and then read it from the variable called "lastestPosition" (for those of your who are not programmers, it's like putting something into the fridge, then trying to take it out of the microwave and being confused why it's not there).

Took me three hours of debugging and swearing at the screen before my wife (who is an accountant, and treats all computers as the source of all evil in the world) looked over my shoulder and casually asked if I meant to misspell the word "latest". In short - really proud of my spelling abilities today

Yay: when I fired the tablet connected to my Mini-Mill’s TouchDRO adapter this morning I was greeted by a notification that the app had been updated:

Per the tip, I now need to dig into the updated manual!
