Swapping from a 143T to a 143TC motor

Here’s what it looks like without the box. The box and cover were both sealed up with gaskets. This motor has never even been wired up to anything. It was a luck of the draw eBay find

So in normal me fashion I could not stop once I got started. Physically, mechanically, it can easily be reversed no problem. Electrically, I have no clue,lol

Appears to be wired for high voltage according to the tag. Gonna have to wire it for low voltage though. Not a big deal

WYE connection
1,7 are combined with a hot leg
3,9 are combined with a hot leg
2,8 are combined with a hot leg
4,5,6 are combined with a wire nut
Low starting amps, less available torque

DELTA
1,6,7 combined with a hot leg
2,4,8 combined with a hot leg
3,5,9 combined with a hot leg
High starting current, high torque available

Most motors i run across are wired in WYE for 208/230v service

Don’t forget to ground the motor to the frame before you are done

Well, I decided to pull the fan cover and see what there was to see on this Baldor motor. Looks like it has a different shaft diameter on the fan end. Which is strange. What’s the chances that this shaft could be turned and stuck in the opposite direction, totally reversing both end caps? Forgive me if that’s a dumb ass question but I’m not an electrical engineer,lol. If that’s not doable what if I used say a 90 degree gland nut and pre bent conduit to cheat the wires where they need to be? Just brainstorming ideas here. Here’s what im Seeing

Thank you sir. I will swap it over to low voltage when I get home this evening. Will most likely strap it to the bench and test fire it first,lol. Just want to make sure all is good before I heave it up in the hole it lives in. I really appreciate all your help
 
Small word of caution would be that your iron lines back up; as in the rotor core (the laminations of the rotor) should as centered as possible with the laminations of the stator. Most motors either the endbells or the stator core is offset from the frame to allow room for the extra wire on the connection end. Changing the motor from f1 to f2 (orientation if the Cbox) or vice versa could cause the mechanical center to change from the magnetic center which will take up your endplay causing excess bearing wear due to axial load and higher operating currents as the motor is constantly trying to pull the rotor back to magnetic center. Granted this only become a noticeable problem is the to centers are way off, you'll know right away if the rotor darts one direction on startup or starts to oscillate from bouncing off the wave spring as the mag center tries to pull it back and one endbell gets warmer much faster than the other.

I appreciate your words of caution and I will keep that in mind. I centered everything up pretty good. It slid together nicely with little effort at all and the bolts started right up, no problem so I hope everything goes well. I can rotate the shaft and feel the magnets pulling and releasing as they should. Thank you again
