POTD- PROJECT OF THE DAY: What Did You Make In Your Shop Today?

Progress on the dividing head!

I used the induction to shrink fit the plate to the spindle.

Looks brand new! What is the spindle taper?
The previous owner did a full rebuild of it including a very nice paint job, the DRO, and a pair of VFDs. It's setup pretty much perfectly for me. It's even wired to run off of 120 V 15A!

The vertical Bridgeport spindle uses 2VB collets (I hadn't heard of them until I found this machine but fortunately it came with a full set of Hardinge 2VB collets) and the horizontal spindle is 5C (I got a mix of Hardinge collets and some that are probably Chinese).

Nice score !! There's not many of them around here.

I did not notice that was a BP/ Hardinge centaur! Nice. Seems very versatile.

I nearly bought this:

(note the all-important powered vertical head as opposed to the little stub vertical head that normally comes with these)

for £650 off a seller (within one and a half hours drive from me, as well) on lathes.co.uk...

...but it turns out that Tony, whilst a gem at providing a vital information resource on machine tools, is no super organised updater of the status of For Sale items on his classifieds section.

It had been sold about a month previous. :frown:.

Ah well, something like it will turn up sooner or later I guess. Hopefully when my finances are more sturdy.

Had a nice chat with the previous owner though. :)
