POTD- PROJECT OF THE DAY: What Did You Make In Your Shop Today?

I took the picture before applying the 600 grit emery on the top of the disc . The rubber drives the disc from below , kind of like the drives on some snowblowers . By moving where the rubber tip rides on the bottom of the disc changes the speed too

ok, now I get it.

Last night during volleyball my jig that has two pulleys on it so I only have to use 3 poles for two courts broke. This is mounted on the middle pole.
10-12 years not bad. So I used a heavier eye bolt, this time. Anyway, after cutting off the old eye bolt and welding on a new, I was so impressed with my welds, since I suck at welding. They looked better than my previous welds.. Wish I took pics before I painted it, because after painting it's clear, I STILL SUCK at welding. :bawling: .. I know it.. BTW this is flux core welding with a HF 90 that I added a bridge rectifier on.

So are you talking about the great big booger on top, or the dreadful stuff on the bottom? Think you are right, those welds are probably not good, and they sure won't win a beauty contest!

The only thing that really works to get better at welding is seat time, and lots of it. Those welds don't look hot enough and appear to be sitting on top of the metal, rather than penetrating. But don't take advice from me, get an experienced welder to help you. Just a simple lesson of what to look for - while you are doing it, is often quite helpful. Having a helmet with good visibility helps too. If you can't clearly see the puddle, it's hard to be a good welder.

The weld will hold it is hot enough. It melted into both metal s. It's just not pretty. Very much my problem of following where I need to weld. The previous one broke on the screw eye above the second eye that holds it from flexing away. Thes are under about 200 to 250 lbs of tension from each side. I had to add the second eye because I underestimated how much tension they would be under.

Looking better. Point the wire into the joint slightly biased toward the heaviest material, angle iron, and move slower as you progress forward. You should be angling the gun in the direction you're traveling, pushing the wire.
