POTD- PROJECT OF THE DAY: What Did You Make In Your Shop Today?

The pheromone traps were for YJ's? Good to know. I don't mind bees and most bugs, but YJ'S are nasty vindictive things. As I recall they can sting repeatedly. I have some nesting in a shed that I periodically have to go after. The nest location has been saturated with insecticide but somehow they come back the next season. And yes, I've removed the nests. It sucks when you open the door and they come flying out, especially if you absent mindedly open the door. Reminds a person real quick. Had to run like the wind a few times.
IF they are nesting in the structure, and the nests are accessed by holes, gaps, or cracks, use caulk or spray foam to block access. I had nests in open ends of square tubes on a trailer where they nested. I solved that by filling the open ends with spray foam. Problem solved.

Moved at least 100 clamps off the zero turn , moved two bench vises , a 6" Kurt vise , a 5HP 3 phase rotary converter , 8 boxes of tooling and got the zero turn out and running . Raked up piles of leaves and dumped some with the Bota . Mulched what was left with the zero turn and dumped them into the garden . Right now 61 degrees and sunny . I'm sweating wearing a sweat shirt . ( Guess that makes sense ) !

Totally by accident, we discovered a way to greatly reduce the Yellow Jacket population around our rural home. My wife transplanted a large Snowball bush near our house. A few years later, we started putting out the pheromone-baited traps, and the one on the Snowball filled up, while the other caught only a few. We have since planted three more Snowballs, and Yellow Jackets are quite rare. Before we started putting out the traps, eating outside during the late Summer was almost impossible because of the little buggers!
So I'm confused, did the Snowball bush attract them? Seems it did since they went to that trap.

I'll be putting screen material (metal) across then putting up the aluminum soffit panels. I have to vent the insulation, the idiot builders blocked it all off so no ventilation, wtf

For reference, it's good to know what you are dealing with.

We think the Snowball attracts them with smell. They are attracted even before it blooms, but when it blooms, they come in droves. Perhaps it is because it is active when the Queens emerge in the Spring, because the traps are full of the large Queens then. Catch one Queen, and you eliminate thousands of Yellow Jackets.

DON'T GET ME STARTED WITH THESE FRIGGIN BEES . You remember last year I was killing them by the 1000s everyday . :cussing:

These were Yellow Jackets . I have plenty of good bees also which don't mess with us . I was getting this every friggin day with the shop vac !

First time trying to adjust my lathe. Started with a 1.5” x 12” 12L14 rod and just took a light pass.

Seems like I have 0.0007” over 6” with the right sided cylinder being larger than the one near the chuck.

For now I will leave the setup alone as I am still gaining experience, but at some point it will be inevitable that I need to take the twist out.

If I understand correctly, need to elevate the tail stock foot closer to me to turn the cutting tool inwards just a wee. Is that right?
