POTD- PROJECT OF THE DAY: What Did You Make In Your Shop Today?

I had a woodworking glue up on my bench, so I went and quickly whipped out this that I have wanted for about 2 years.
I only get 2 edges on a dcmt out of 4 possible.

So I made this up from an old brazed on shank.. cut the carbide off, and layed out the pattern. I have to open the hole it looks weird, but it was while filing and deburring the edges. It's rough, not pretty, but it works.

The A.R. Warner LH insert holder does this, giving you a chamfering tool for “free.”

yes, I could have bought one... I have a left hand tool, but I don't get to use one of the edges... So, I made it.
We are machinists.... even if I hack it together, I prefer to make things many times... it uses up my stock, keeps me busy, keeps me out of trouble, and is fun.

Yesterday, I added two important details to the band saw project while waiting on blades to arrive.

First thing every metal cutting band saw needs is a proper cast iron table, not a janky aluminum one. So I invoked the magic words: ebay show me what'cha got! And I found a clean Hitachi table that bolted right in.

Then I added a final finishing touch:

My Lagun mill vise was looking grungy, like it hadn't been cleaned since it was new in '97. So I wrestled it into the solvent tak for a teardown and cleaning. The only paint colors I had on hand were flat black, fire code red, and safety blue. I am well aware of the fact that the world doesn't really need any more safety blue mill vises, and that the blue may detract from my vise's European pedigree, but it beats red and I'm not going for the rat rod look, so...
