POTD- PROJECT OF THE DAY: What Did You Make In Your Shop Today?

I just saved my house.. possibly.
I had a mapp cylinder fall from about 5 feet up, and was headed to the concrete. I knocked it off by taking one of the organizers off another shelf.
I put my foot out and caught it right in the crook of my ankle, I was able to hold it there for a second and let it down easy.

Whew....

Good catch. That wouldn't have been good, had it hit. Not lucky to have knocked it over, but you are indeed a lucky man to have been able to arrest the fall.

Didn't make but repaired.
Was going to start making spark plugs for the Holt last night. Put power to the 17 year old "Phase Perfect" 3 phase converter, the fans came on and it went through its usual startup, BUT no clunk as the output relay didn't close. Pulled the cover to check fuses but they all were good. Called Phase Perfect this morning, apparently it's so old they don't stock parts anymore but the tech asked a few questions. Which indicators lights are on, all three solid. OH THATS THE FILTER CAPACITORS. Checked them, should be 40 uF, one was open and two read 20 uF. Into the motor rewind shop, they confirmed my readings, but blew me away, had the identical ones in stock. Fit right into the old mount. Powered it up and got the joyous clunk of the relay.
$94 worth of capacitors was a lot better than a now $4956 CDN new Phase Perfect.
Im sure it's living on borrowed time but at least put off a major purchase for now.
Will call them back Tuesday and get the values of some other large ones in there, might get some more time if I replace them preemptively.

Some would just use washers and call it a day... but me?? noooooooooo... I have to waste over and hour making this so the bolt is flat with the surface...

Will smooth out the sides just a little bit.. while waiting for the ACME letters to arrive. And might as well get rid of the rest of the paint...
