POTD- PROJECT OF THE DAY: What Did You Make In Your Shop Today?

thanks, it's not in that great a shape. It was a basket case when I got it. But it's useable for me. Oh, and I cleaned the area I was working in. It was a swarf collector back there.

The brake is not my idea, I saw it years ago on youtube. I'm just using his idea, with my own twists.

I'll edit this in a minute. IMGUR is giving me problems not showing my rebuild album and I can't find the video I saw years ago..
it was not chrisB's it was a foreign guy, who did a nice job.

found my original post. couldn't find the video otherwise:

I’ve just gone through your IMGUR build thread. Great job on the rebuild of your lath - the lathe looks great

Made a couple of Starrett type snugs to comple a couple of old surface gages I got at auction. The smaller one is a Brown and Sharpe and the larger one a Gem. Now they can hold the Interapid DTI’s for surface plate work.

Made some copper jaw liners for the offset pliers. Not so much to protect the work from damage (although that will be a side benefit) but more so to focus the “pliering” action to the tips of the jaws. They slip on and off pretty easily even without undoing the cinch tabs. Reminds me of a dog muzzle for some reason…:)

Alcohol degrease, ospho wipe down, let dry a little then Brownells Oxpho blue. Pontiac428 put me onto the ospho. That’s the key. All these parts are 12L14 which machines great and takes blue very nice.
Thanks; based on @pontiac428's recommendation I stocked up on Ospho and will be using it on my next bluing project.
